All Tied Up :Mixed Media Art Journal Layout
Busy
Life has been a bit full as of late. Between sewing, crafting, family, home remodeling projects and daily routines I am struggling to find time blogging. So if I seem a bit sparse as of late, you know why. I would love to make it around to your blogs but sometimes blogging is the thing that ends up on the back burner.
So, right now, I am just trying to keep up on my postings. My brain is full of a lot of extra things so if I don’t include extra thoughts, you know all my brain power has been spent elsewhere. Haha. I am sure a lot of you remember those days when your children were little. Some days can be mentally exhausting. Those are the evenings I like to spend in front of the TV or Computer doing something mindless.
Tonight is one of those mindless evenings. So, I will leave you to the pictures.
Creating The Journal Layout
This is the next layout in my paper doll journal. I created the background using the Pilgrimage to India and Art Deco Wallpaper Stencil with grunge paste and embossing powder. Not being happy with the way the background turned out, I added some tissue paper to the background before using PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paints and Infusions.
I stamped a steampunk stamp by Tim Holtz in the background. I layered PaperArtsy stamps as well as my my hand-carved mushroom and fish stamps. I also used some book paper, linen fabric scraps and some fiber. I finished off with some gesso splatters and doodling.

A genuinely gorgeous layout, Kate. You always make it look so beautiful with all the layers and layers you manage to fit together. What others would see as disparate bits and pieces, you assemble with the most incredible art. I love this very much. Your art always makes me happy.
Another wonderful journal page Kate, so much to see and enjoy. Love the deep colours, too. Have a great Sunday, Valerie
This is an awesome journal spread Kate. The layers look fantastic and you have so many interesting details to see here. Its good to have time to create art and get some ‘me’ time . to create art.
Have a good rest of the weekend. Yvonne xx
A veru beautiful spread, always dimension and texture in your spreads and a beautiful use of colour!
