April I Am Roses Challenge- 'Journal it'

Just another layout in my ‘Past Vibes’ art journal to play along with this months I Am Roses Challenge. The challenge is to journal using flat flowers. The flowers I used were ZQP23 & PS-15.
I started off by covering my kraft paper with scraps of leftover Prima paper and bits of lace, tissue tape, masking tape and burlap. I then used my palette knife to spread a layer of gesso over the background.
I then added my flowers and more background elements.
Before adding my photos I used Distress reinkers to drip some ink all over the page. A new technique I am trying out and really like it.
Well, thats it for today. Have a great Monday. Thank you for taking the time to stop. I appreciate that and all your comments.

  • Hi Kate
The fragments are what appeal to me so much, adore fragments and how they can come together to create texture and interest for the eye.
    Gorgeous results.
Kate, thank you so much for your lovely feedback on my Sentimental fabric wallhanging, I appreciate it so very much.

  • Kate … your journal pages are awesome! I love all of the texture and bits of this and that. The dripping of the distress ink refill looks cool! I’ll have to give that a try sometime. I think you did a fantastic job of using flat flowers in this challenge. I have some but never use them because I have to have stuff sticking up off of a page! haha But, I totally love how you used them. I also wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment! Enjoy your day! <3 Candy

  • Great journal page, love all the different papers and tissue you’ve added, lots of different textures going on there. Thanks for joining in on the challenge at I Am Roses.
