Bring Back the Flowers: Hand Carved Stamps
I am ready for flowers, the color green and spring. We just got a a bit of snow fall and ice this past weekend with temperatures in the negative. My children are going to have a few make up days now and you would think they would be jumping up and down for joy but not my kids. My oldest son usually whines and then launches into a monologue about how school shouldn’t be canceled based on snowfall predictions. While my sweet younger son exclaims that he wishes school wasn’t canceled but he is excited to get more snuggle time with me. Two very different perspectives but either way we are making the most of it.
Carving the Stamp
I started off with a sketch, combining ideas from several Pinterest pictures. I transferred my pencil sketch to the stamp carving blog by rubbing it on with a bone folder. I used the Speedball Super Value Block Printing Starter Kit with three different tips.
After I completed the carving, I stamped it several times in order to find areas that need refining. Once I was happy with it, I stamped it on cardstock and used my watercolors to fill in the cover. My paper buckled a little but next time I will stamp it on watercolor paper.
I was inspired by #carveddecember particularly Gwen LaFleur. I decided to try a wedge. As you can see, my lines do not quite match up but this will be something to work on, I guess that means I will have to make another one.
One of my goals for this year is to carve one stamp a month. I didn’t join in with #carvedecember because as you can imagine, December is quite a busy month. But this way I will still get the benefit of practice and it won’t be overwhelming.

Today, I am playing along with the tea ladies at Elizabeth and Bleubeard’s. I am sharing my
Pineapple Carrot White Tea | WHITE PINEAPPLE WONDER that I mentioned two weeks ago. It finally came in the mail so I thought I would share a pretty picture along with the link. This Pineapple Wonder It has a nice light flavor due to the white tea. It is not as pungent in the Pineapple flavor as my Tiesta Tea Maui Mango, Mango Pineapple Fruit but it is still quite tasty. As you can tell, I love fruit teas, especially pineapple so this one is perfect for me. And it has carrot pieces in it as well for that extra healthy boost.
