Brothers are Made For Punching: Mixed Media ATC

Brothers

My two boys are 2 years and 4 months apart. They can busy themselves for hours playing with Lego’s, digging through the dirt and playing in the woods. I love that they have each other to play with and make mischief. Although, some days, it seems as though they are going to rip each other apart due to frustration. This mostly happens in the summer when they spend every waking moment together. Unlike girls, they tend to be very physical when they are upset. I have come upon my boys several times as they wrestle and pound each other with their fists. My youngest son has lost a few pairs of glasses this way.

But even though they fight (endlessly) I love that they make up and can still call each other ‘best friend’ at the end of the day. When they apologize to each other, they hug. And that alone makes my mommy heart sing.

They are the sweetest big brothers to my daughter. Can you believe they fight over who gets her up from her nap? They play with her, get her breakfast and read to her. I am blessed with amazing little helpers. And I pray they will always remain best friends.

Creating The ATC

I covered the ATC base with patterned paper, stamped and embossed with white. I then layered a tea bag on top and repeated the embossing. I sprayed with several PaperArtsy Infusions before adding thread, micro-beads, fiber, chipboard and doodling around the edges.

Lastly, I added a Tim Holtz paper doll and some doodling with a white pen.

  • Love the beautiful ATC. Your sons remind me of my grandsons when they were small – lots of love, but fights and punches all the time. It seems to be a boy thing! Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie

  • I simply adore this entry, Kate. I love how you layered everything several times and set the paper dolls high above everything. This is really stunning.

I so enjoyed seeing all your children together. They are a lovely family and I know how blessed you are.

  • Fantastic multilayered ATC Kate, love how you built up the background and that lovely pair of little boys (obviously best friends like your own adorable boys) are the perfect finishing touch! Your 3 kids look so cute and how nice the boys so adore their little sister!! Long may it last!!
