Bunnies and Cacti : DIY Terrarium
Pets
We have finally joined the world of pet owners. I have posted before that my son LOVES bunnies. After many years of asking and planning, my son finally got his first bunny today. She is a beautiful English Lop that my son named Leia, after Star Wars Princess Leia. Just look at her beautiful long ears and the pattern of her fur. We are all in love with her and can’t get enough of the bunny cuddles.
Terrarium
What I used:
Glass Container
Rocks
Succulent Mix
Moss
Cacti
I wish this picture was better but it was difficult with the glare. I saved this apothecary jar for a while with the intention of creating a terrarium. I bought the two cacti from Aldi at a great price and since they are difficult to kill, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to practice. The bottom layer is rocks, then a layer of dirt and the last layer is moss that I dug up from our yard.
In case you are interested, there are many tutorials on Youtube on how to create your own terrarium. The key is to have good drainage. I should have used a mixture formulated for succulents but as I didn’t have that on hand I used what was available.
Tea Day
I am joining the ladies at T day over at Elizabeth and Bleubeard‘s. My tea today is Maui Mango by Tiesta Tea which contains pineapple, mango, strawberry, marigold, orange and white hibiscus. This is one of my favorites!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Hi great post-love your new bunny and your cactus aquarium-and your tea always looks so delicious.
Happy t hugs Kathy
Ok, nice terrarium, but I am TOTALLY in love with Leia!!!! I have always loved bunnies- especially English lops since I can remember!! At one of the medical facilities I worked at many years ago there was a fellow med. secretary who had a lop and she would bring her in on occasion so I could see her:) Your son must be so very happy. best of luck with Leia, and happy T day!
What an adorable bunny. Leia is a great name and he looks so happy holding his new girl. I’ve never had a bunny but I heard they were very dog like so what a fun pet. I hope you keep us updated on how everyone djusts. Hope you have a wonderful T day Kate. Hugs-Erika

Oh my, what an adorable photo of your son and Leia! He looks so happy and she is super cute, I love her markings and long ears 😀. Your tea sounds heavenly, I’d love to try a cup of two …lol 😉. Happy T Day! Hugs Jo x
The bunny is adorable. Your son must be thrilled. She looks like she will be big when full grown. Your terrarium is lovely. I have a black thumb, so I don’t think I’ll even try; but it’s very pretty. 😉
What a lovely bunny! And I enjoy a terrarium but have no luck with succulents. Yours looks quite attractive, and I’m sure it’ll do well. Your teas always tempt me to try some kind of fruity tea like that, but I’m never where they sell such things. I’ll just close my eyes and have a virtual cup of yours 🙂 Thank you 🙂 Happy T Tuesday!
What a sweet bunny! I see your boy is over the moon about her. 🙂 Cacti in a terrarium is a great idea and lovely!
That tea looks delish. Happy T day!
Out of frustration, I am at my neighbor’s house across the street using her computer. I told her I would be brief and leave this quick message. I have been without electricity AGAIN, this time for over 18 hours. I can’t ask my foodie friend Sally, because she lives on the same side of my street and her electricity is out, too. I will be by to visit once my electricity has returned, but for now, please be assured, I would be sharing a drink with you right now, if I could. Thanks for understanding.
Your tea sounds scrumptious! Beautiful terrarium, and adorable bunny! Lovely post! Happy Tea Day, Kate!
