Children Are Meant to Grow and Fly : Mixed Media Layout
Grow, but not too fast
I can’t believe that Spring is already here. I am pleased that greenery and light sweater weather is imminent. But seriously, where did the first 3 months of the year have go? Life is flying by and for some reason, I can’t remember that much of it. For those of you that do not know me personally, I am one of those weepy types that holds back the tears when listening to other people’s stories, so you can imagine how it is when I stop to ponder life with my family over the past few months and years. And don’t get me started on the future. When my oldest mentions that he will be going off to college in 7 years I just about lose it. It’s bittersweet when I realize they will spend less time in my household as children than in the real world as adulthoods. If they didn’t, Hubby and I might never remember what it is like to be honeymooners. And I am looking forward to that time when it gets here. But still, once children have touched your heart there is no going back. You never want to experience life again without them. Isn’t that amazing? They take up the best years of your life, your energy, your money and some cases your sanity. And all you get in return is growth. Your heart grows larger, you become less stingy with your money, you learn how to prioritize activities so your energy isn’t depleted and you become more forgiving, kind and patient with those that you love.
When I stop to think about that, I become a little more amazed at God’s wisdom and His creation of the family unit.
How have your children changed you for the better?
Creating the Art Journal Layout
I created this layout for my daughter’s art journal. I love this picture of my daughter as it shows off her large fluff butt from her cloth diapers. I used the Ornamental Floral Screen and the Lacy Lotus Repeat Stencil in the background. I used PaperArtsy Infusions and Paints to color the background.
The large butterfly stamp is by PaperArsty. I used an Chinese Character stamp in the background, fiber, thread, fabric strips, liquid pearls and book paper to embellish.

Nice page kate. I love the wings on your daughter as a toddler. And seems once you have children they are slowly growing away from you, well never really totally away-hopefully, but as they grow up they don’t need you the same way. OK, enough philosophy for me. happy weekend. hugs-Erika
Such gorgeous pages Kate! Wonderful!♥♥♥ Susi
Such pretty colours and background on your pages Kate and a wonderfully unique photo with wings, your daughter is gonna love her journal when she grows up. Like you I love my family and my children are grown up with children of their own and we have Sunday dinner together every week if we can all make it, which is more than 90% of the time. I love it. Yes time is flying past so quickly, we must make the most of every moment. Have a great weekend xxx
