Christmas In A Cloche: Mixed Media Postcard
It’s Time!
Now that Thanksgiving is over, I am finally in the Christmas mode. My hubby has a rule that there is no Christmas music or decor in our home until after Thanksgiving. But sometimes, I play Christmas music when he is not home. And I really have to hold myself back from pulling out my decorations once the first fall snow hits. But I understand why hubby feels that way. Every year the stores start pushing Christmas merchandise earlier and earlier and it tends to make the holiday old before it has even begun.
I love cramming all that baking, caroling, gift giving, celebrating Jesus’s birth and family time into 4 weeks of the year. We don’t have a lot of traditions at our house except spending time with each other. But to me, that is my favorite part of the Christmas season.
What are your favorite Christmas traditions?
Creating the Mixed Media Postcard
I am excited to start creating Christmas projects. I made this piece of mail art using an postcard as the base. I covered it with unused stamped images, book paper, tissue paper, thread and fiber.
I painted the cloche image using Fresco Finish Paints and and used clear embossing fluid on the string of lights.
For those of you that celebrated Thanksgiving, I hope that you are enjoying your time with family and friends as well as recovering from the festivities.
Until Next Week,
Kate

Beautiful, Kate! All that texture and layers go so well together and the cloche is a beautiful focal point.
Oh, that cloche is so sweet – I’ve got a real soft spot for the JOFY Christmas images. Love your grungy layers in the background.

That’s a gorgeous cloche and a great postcard. I always decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. This year I only got half finished. I guess I need to weed a few of the decorations down a bit. That’s my tradition, since the only family I have are two fur babies. You are SO lucky to have these four weeks filled with wonderful memories leading up to the big day. Enjoy.
Beautiful card, thanks for playing along with us at THAIC.
What a unique project.

I went all out this year and even started decorating before Thanksgiving! It has been the first time in a long while that I have felt this way and it sure does feel good! “)
