Christmas Is Coming: Mixed Media Card
Holly Leaves and Snow
Thanksgiving was full of amazing food and conversation. The next day we went to Walmart because we always shop for blu rays when they are on sale. After that, I dug out my Christmas decor and decorated to my hearts content. It took me several hours, lots of glitter and hundreds of pine needles to sweep up! Sounds like fun, huh? Maybe I will share some of my Christmas decor in another post.
What is your favorite Christmas decoration?
I am a bit behind on my tags/cards for the 12 Tags of Christmas over at The Funkie Junkie so I am going to share two today.
First up is my Card #5. You can see Linda’s tag HERE. The inspiration for my card was drawn from the framed vintage Santa and the holly leaves on Linda’s tag.
Making Card #5
I started off by spraying my background paper with Lindy’s and PaperArtsy Infusions. I stenciled the background before embossing it with snow flakes. My vintage Santa was stamped and framed. I stamped several holly leaves on patterned paper, layered them and added Stickles and liquid pearls.
It’s Christmas
Here is my tag #6. You can see Linda’s tag HERE. My inspiration from Linda’s tag was drawn from her doily and the snow. I used a doily stencil in the background and embossed with white around the edges to look like snow.
Making Tag #6
I used texture paste through a stencil and painted with fresco finish paints and daubed it with green and gold ink. I stamped over top with a script stamp. The kids are cut out of a Artistic Outpost stamp. The peach maple leaves and white flower centers are from I Am Roses. I added some black thread and a white die cut border.
Check out Linda’s Boutique.
Thanks for stopping by.

Your cards/tags are wonderful, they look so tactile, and I love the colours and decorations you used. Glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving, and had fun with you Christmas decorations. Hugs, Valerie
Good morning, lovely Kate! Again, you leave me speechless with your creations! I just love the colors you used on the first card….the yellow/gold and turquoise are a perfect combination. And oh, what a charming little tag at the end!
Happy day to you! Hugs!
Beautiful card and tag! The backgrounds are wonderful and I love the old fashioned Santa image you used with those pretty snowflakes 😁. Have a great week! J 😊
You put SO much into your cards and your tags, too. They are both awesome. I love the layers, the colors, and the stencils you used, too. Wonderful, wonderful pieces you shared with us today.

Have a happy reat of the week Kate!
I’m so in love with these! I need that holly stamp in my life!!! Is it PA? Fabulous merry makes. So glad your Thanksgiving was amazing. Can’t wait to see your decor. My favorites are fresh greenery and berries with mercury glass, but then we haven’t decorated at all. Slacker am I!
Hi Autumn, here is the link for the holly stamp. http://www.red-rubber-designs.com/stamps/glorious-holiday-unmounted-rubber-stamps/ I find myself reaching for this stamp often!
I love fresh greenery as well! I haven’t purchased any mercury glass as of yet but I love the look of it!
Thank you for your sweet comments.
Kate
Thanks for the link. I have no Red Rubber stamps and will be happy to check them out!
Just got back from MO and saw your comment about a quiltlet. It’s a tiny art quilt that hangs on a wall. It’s not large enough to be an art quilt (this one is about 5″ x 8″ and will fit in a first class envelope. Hope that helps.
What a gorgeous card!! Mixed media at it’s finest for sure Kate!!
Hope to get my decorations up this weekend-fingers crossed!
My favorites would have to be all of the vintage pinecone elves and deer and red elves and bottle brush trees and …well all of the vintage decorations I put up! heehee I might have to do a post on that!
Happy December!

Thanks Jackie! I would love to see a post on your Christmas decor. Elves and deer sound magical!
Two fantastic cards, Kate! They both have absolutely yummy colors and backgrounds. So much detail! Love the Santa collage and the holly spray on #5. And I always love to see the kids from the Artistic Outpost stamp. I’m delighted that you used it on #6. Great to hear you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. And the Christmas decorations afterwards are always so much fun! Thanks so much for sharing your work.
Hugs,
Linda
Love the blue and gold with the gorgeous Santa collage, and another lovely greeny tag – my favourite Christmas colour, I think… it’s the holiday greenery that helps to make the season for me.
