Christmas Ornaments Are For Swapping

Recently, I joined an ornament swap over at The Enchanting Rose. Stephanie has been hosting a Tea Cup Swap every year and I have been dying to participate but have yet to sign up. A few weeks ago I decided on a whim to sign for her ornament swap. We could either make or purchase an ornament as well as send something a little Christmas-y.

I altered this box a while ago and thought that it would be the perfect box to house a homemade ornament.

The base of the ornament was made using a Tutorial for Fiber Texture Paste consisting of glue, paint and torn up toilet paper. It is flexible and is the perfect texture for an ornament. I traced a circle and cut it out using my heavy duty Tim Holtz scissors. I punched a hole, covered the background with paper, gesso and stamping before starting to decorate.

My partner said she liked vintage, red and green so I tried to cover all the bases with my ornament.

Along with the ornament and altered box, I sent a few goodies. A yummy Ginger Snappish Tea, Raspberry Jam cookies and a Handmade Christmas Tag.

I received this lovely Christmas tea towel, a box of tea light candles that smell wonderful, and this pretty bird ornament from Gina over at With Twigs And Branches.  Thank you, Gina! I love my gifts.

Tea Day

I am joining all the T-Ladies for Tea Day over at Elizabeth and Bleubeard’s. My drink for the day is the Ginger Snappish Tea that I sent to my swap partner.

Happy Tea Day!

I liked the bird you received. It was clever. Thanks for sharing the tea you sent your swap partner with us for T this Tuesday.

  • Oh wow Kate, that sounds like one awesome swap and I absolutely ADORE both the ornament and the box to house it in!! Your swap partner is one lucky lady!!! The swaps you received look super too, like I said, what a great swap!! Off to check out the tutorial now, that sounds like fun…

  • Your swap mate must be delighted with the box and ornament your made and the tag. So very pretty. Oooh, I’ll have to look for the Ginger Snappish tea on the next shopping trip. The tea towel is so festive and the little bird ornament just delightful. Enjoy your gifts. Happy T Day

  • The gifts you sent, as well as the gifts you received, are fabulous, Kate! I love seeing your dimensional artwork. Living where I do, (with poor unreliable mail service) I can’t participate in swaps like that, so I especially love seeing what others do.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xoxo

  • That looks like a super swap Kate. You got a nice package, and you sent a super one too. Your arty pieces came out fantastic as your art always does. I hope it was a happy T day. Mine was busy and I am late getting to blogs. Hugs-Erika

  • That looks like a really nice swap Kate. I love what you madee, with the little box. So sweet. I’m sure your swap partner loves it too.
The little bird you received is gorgeous. All in all a success I would say.
I have participated very rarely in swaps. I live too far and the postage is so expensive. I have done an ATC swap once (Organised by Elizabeth and Bluebeard)
We are usually away on Tuesday and I would use my ipad, but so many comments have not come through that I have given up on that and I just do the comments a day late. Better late than never!
    Happy belated T-Day,

  • How fun Kate!! I do love the ornie you made and sent and the lovely box and tag as well!
And what a treat to receive such a nice ornie and gifts in return! Happy early Christmas!

  • Dearest Kate, I am so glad you joined the swap. I must say that both packages are simply delightful! Your handmade creations are works of art and I know you pour a lot of love into all that you make. The little bird from Gina is just darling.

Merry Christmas, my friend. Hugs! Stephanie-The Enchanting Rose
