Garden In A Frame: Daily Art Practice
Couch Talk
I am still working through the book, The Artist’s Way. This week’s Artist Date took me to Hobby Lobby. I didn’t go with a plan but hoped to find some inspiration. I browsed aisles I don’t usually visit and found some stocking stuffers for my daughter at a great deal. I also looked in the floral section and came away with the inspiration to create a succulent frame or living wall. I love the idea of using real succulents, but I don’t like the idea of having to take down the frame to water them. I have been thinking about how to decorate our newly remodeled entry way and I think a frame like this would be perfect as the focal point. Even though my Artist Date started off as an unexciting outing, I came away with a great idea so I would say it was successful.
Daily Art Practice
My shopfront today is The Reedsville Creamery, a local business that opened within the last few years. They have an adorable little stand and I hear their ice cream is delicious, although I haven’t had the chance to try it.
My reference photo was a combination of two photos I found on Instagram.
Tea Day
I am joining the tea day ladies, hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My tea today is Celestial Seasonings Herbal Tea Tangerine Orange Zinger. This is a new tea that I have been enjoying in the mornings before I have caffeine.

Oh I thought those succulents were alive. They are really nice , and it looks great Kate.. It’s a fun idea too. I’ve seen living walls but not within a frame.. And that tangerine-orange tea sounds like it would be very tasty. I love a good fruity tea, and in the winter when fruits and veggies are limited, I bet it would be delicious. Your living mural looks great. I love the current style of entire walls of living plants, though they usually arrange them so that the watering process can drain into a drain on the floor, or they are outdoors where it can just run off.

Since I am not on Instagram, I can’t figure out what is in front of the ice cream stand. The photo on their web site doesn’t have that post that looks like it has fish on top.
I would also like that succulent framed piece, but not sure how you are going to water it, I suspect you will know before you have to hang it, though.

these succulents in the picture frame look extremely inspiring to me: have you managed to make the plants in the frame actually survive? That would be important for me, but I don’t know which technique to use. Maybe you have tips for me?
