Gond Watercolor Painting

Paint & Relax

I have been spending more time working on my sketching and painting as of late. It is the perfect way to relax if I don’t feel like doing anything that requires mental focus. Not every time I sit down is it a successful time but I am trying to remember that practice makes perfect. Perfect is a long ways off but it is something to aim for.

My home is globally inspired and cultural/folk art has always been on my list of things to DIY. If you saw my living room tour your noticed  that my home has a lot of Indian influence. When looking into Indian decor I noticed that there were so many different painting styles. If you are interested in reading about them there is a bit of information HERE.

Creating the Painting

I chose Gond Painting because it is nature inspired and I love the elegant lines of the animals. I found a traditional painting online and sketched it onto watercolor paper.

I took some liberties with my shading which deviated from the original picture.

I really love the patterns that are included in this art style.

And here is the finished piece. Now I just need a frame.

Tea Day

I am playing along with Elizabeth and Bleubeard for T Day. I don’t know if you remember but last week I shared all of the tea that I won from Tiesta Tea. I opened the Maui Mango and here it is. Isn’t it beautiful? And the taste was just as amazing!

And my little sweetie wanted to smell the tea and pose for a picture. Cute, huh?

Happy Tea Day,

  • I had never seen your living room tour before, so this is awesome. I can see how these lovely gond animals would fit well in your living room. This painting is beautiful. I know you call it relaxing, but I have trouble with that because I hold my pencils or pens too tight and my hand seizes up. That’s why your painting is SO impressive to me.

That Maui Mango tea looks lovely. I can just imagine what it tastes like. You won a wonderful gift and your cutie is the perfect way to display it, too. Thanks for sharing your art, your loose leaf tea and your darling daughter with us for T this Tuesday.
