Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas: Daily Art Practice

Couch Talk

I am going to keep this rather brief today. Our home has been dealing with sickness. A week and a half ago, it was my daughter and son that were sick with a stomach virus. We even made an impromptu trip to the ER one evening as my daughter was very sick. A few days later she returned to school, and I got sick. I am hoping this thing is gone before Christmas but the way it looks right now, I might be couch bound.

Shopfront turned Christmas Card

I painted this New York shopfront, MinaLima, because I am fascinated by their illustrated books. They have a series of classic books with illustrations but my favorite are the Harry Potter books.

When it came to making a Christmas card, I tried painting several different images but none of them turned out. And then I remembered this one and it was the perfect colors for Christmas.

Here is how our Christmas card turned out.

Tea Day

I am joining the Tea Day Ladies, hosted by The Republic of Tea Orange Blossom White Tea, is one of my favorite tea combinations.

Happy Tea Day and Merry Christmas!

  • aw, sorry to hear you all have been so sick… why does it seem to be more widespread around holidays…:( I hope everyone gets well very soon so you all can enjoy these special holiday days. Your shop front watercolor art made such beautiful Christmas cards!! Happy T day, and a Merry, healthy Christmas too!

  • That tea sounds lovely, Kate. I am so sorry to hear that you and your kids have been sick! I do hope you all are better for Christmas. Lovely painting and Christmas card. Stay warm, and get rest and well, dear Kate. Hugs.

  • I am SO sorry to read that you are sick and your family has been sick, too, I truly hope you are better by Christmas. I absolutely LOVE your handpainted Christmas card. It is beautiful and speaks of Christmas colors. I also like your choice of teas today, too. I love white tea, and this sounds great. Thanks for sharing your Christmas card and your tea with us for T this nearly Tuesday, Kate. I hope you have a safe, healthy, joyous Christmas, too.

  • Sorry to hear about the stomach bugs in your house. They are the worst, aren’t they? My husband had something similar this weekend, but I don’t know if it is a bug or he ate something that I didn’t eat. (Keeping my fingers crossed.) I love your family Christmas card. Your illustration on it is amazing. I hope everyone is healthy and well for Christmas. Happy T day and have a wonderful healthy holiday too. Hugs-Erika

  • I’m so sorry to hear that it’s your turn now to be sick. How awful. Especially at a time of year that everyone looks forward to. I suppose Christmas will have to be postponed. Tonight my hubby is not feeling well and he went to bed with a high fever. This does not bode well for us either.
I’d never heard of Minalima so I had a look on their website. How beautiful. They are very good artists. The idea of the shop as a Christmas card is a good one. It looks absolutely lovely. Well done.
    Greetings from sunny Spain,
Merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy 2022 to you and yours. (And a speedy recovery)
