How About Cookies With Your Illustration? : A Couch Adventure
Life From the Couch
This weeks schooling has continued and we are starting to get into a routine. Sadly, our school district is not one of the ones offering online work so we are doing our own thing with the supplemental activities the school has provided. I have enjoyed spending time talking to my children and learning more about their learning style. We have a bit of fun choosing videos from the vast amount of YouYube content. The other day, they watched a video about a butt-less worm. Yeah, we all had a chuckle, too.
We have done quite a few baking/science projects and our counters are overflowing with yummy treats. I can see a lot of truth in all the memes depicting weight gain during the quarantine. Here are a few for your enjoyment.
My Take on Illustration
I love illustrations and have always wanted to try my hand at it. The closest I have come to illustration is this stamp that I carved last year. You can see the post HERE if you are interested.
Instagram Inspiration
Lately, I have taken to spending more time on Instagram than reading blogs because I can get a quick dose of inspiration simply by scrolling through the pictures. Some even play videos without the sound. Needless to say,it is inspiration overload.
Many of you know that I love to paint. I haven’t painted recently but my last one was a a pair of chickens Gond painting. I still want to explore more of this style of painting but time doesn’t permit at the moment. During my Instagram browsing, I came across several illustrators that have a bright and colorful style.

Danielle Donaldson

I would love to hear what illustrations appealed to you.
Tea Day
Today, I am linking with the T ladies over at Elizabeth and Bleubeard‘s. My tea is a Double-E Immune Booster Tea. I bought this tea some time ago and thought this COVID-19 pandemic was the perfect time to boost my immunity. I enjoy the flavor of this tea but as it is primarily herbs, I added a bit of green tea to help with my caffeine needs.
Thank you for joining me this tea day. Do you have a favorite illustrator? I would love to know so I can look them up.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
You are such a good parent doing all those fun things with your kids Kate. I bet many parents are not doing so much. It must be hard for some, especially if they have jobs to juggle. I bet those experiments and baking you are interesting. I hope you share more with us Kate. I hope you have a wonderful T day and have some more interesting movies in your week also. Hugs-Erika
Glad you are managing with the kids and home schooling. Love the crafting you did. Glad ou have so much inspiration to keep yourself going in these hard times. Take care, hugs, Valerie
Our district is one of the largest in the state, and the kids get packets each week. They turn them in one day a week at a given location or mail them back. They are graded and returned the next week with their new packet. It works for Wichita, because so many children don’t have access to the computer or the internet. The children are required to read certain lessons in each of their classes, though. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have to seek out YouTUbe videos to replace teaching by teachers. You must be a champ.
LOVED the funnies. They were clever.
Glad you shared your illustration. Sadly, I can’t see anything since I’m not on Instagram. All I see is dark and a big sign asking me to sign up.
Love your tea today. I agree it’s perfect to help us stay immune to this virus. Thanks for sharing your illustration, your children’s learning habits, and your tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear Kate.
Your art piece is lovely. And I laughed at all of your funnies. Happy T-Day!
Terrific art! I laughed at the weight comics ~ I’m putting my jeans on every other day to try and curb my eating 🙁
Instagram is filled with talent for sure ~your tea sounds wonderful ~ blessings
A great post and those funnies were super, I liked the one with the rolling pin trying to smooth the fat layers no doubt.
Your children must be enjoying the lessons you have for them, nothing can replace the hands on method of learning to weigh and measure than cooking together. They will remember these days long after a school lesson would be forgotten.
Take care and stay safe.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
I’m sure your kiddos are appreciating all the time you a re spending with them and teaching them with some fun thrown in:) Yes, there is tons of inspiration on IG!! The only one I am familiar with of those you posted here is Danielle Donaldson. I have taken an online class with her and have her book;) I love herbal teas and the one you shared sounds really good to me. Stay well and inspired. Happy T day!
I enjoyed seeing all of the creativity here-wow that is sad the schools did not send you a curriculum for the children-you are good parent for setting up learning with them. great funnies I loved the sheep the best
stay well all of you Happy T Kathy
What a great post to browse and eventually read through (with a cup of something).
Where to start…. My favorite illustrators are Inge Löök (from Finland) and José Naranja (from Spain). Look them up and see what you think. I liked your suggestions too. The carp (can’t remember her name off hand) is beautiful. And I liked Danielle Donald’s style.
I’m glad you are getting into a routine of home schooling. Yes, I think you will get to know your children better in many ways.
Your stamp is awesome. It makes for a wonderful tag.
Happy T-Day and
Take care,
Hugs,
Lisca
It’s fun to read what parents are doing with their kids now that formal school’s not in session. The immune-boosting tea sounds like what we all need 🙂 Happy T Tuesday!
Fabulous post! Thanks for the funnies and sharing the art, there’s some great inspiration there 😁. The stamp that you created is fabulous, it reminds me of your daughter, so pretty! That tea sounds perfect too. Sending you Happy T Day wishes! Stay safe and well! Hugs, Jo x
Love the memes, Kate, especially the chubby baby. My two sisters home schooled. I always admired them for it, but couldn’t imagine doing it myself. Bully for you! And it sounds like you’re keeping it fun too.
Thank you for all the inspiration. I’ve never used Instagram much, but I’m think of doing the #the100dayproject. Might be a good thing to try during these stay home times
Wishing you a healthy and happy T-Day! Eileen xx
I’ve been doing a lot of baking, too. and the weight memes are funny. Thanks for sharing the eye candy. Less fattening than baking and eating. 😺 Take care and Happy T Day.
Woww this illustration is really wonderful Kate !! I love the way you have assembled it, great ! Love the chickens too, they are gorgeous!
Thanks so much for sharing this information about illustration.
i wish you are well, stay safe and take care,
Big hugs, Caty
What funny memes you found! I am not doing much baking – maybe good that I couldn’t get hold of any flour – shelves were empty!
I am actually losing weight – if only we could get out on long walks it might be less! Not going out for coffees and lunches has an advantage – who knew?
Love you tag and thanks for the instagram links – I already knew of some but there’s lots more to look at here! Belated greetings for T day! Chrisx
