How Many Faces Do You Have? : Daily Art Practice
Couch Talk
Last week, I had the privilege of chaperoning my daughter’s field trip to our local pumpkin patch. The day started off incredibly chilly and foggy. I took this picture shortly after the fog began to lift while we were in the corn maze. We call this beautiful place, Big Valley. The fun activities for the children included picking a pumpkin, digging up potatoes, petting the animals, eating ice cream, popcorn and of course the corn maze.
This was the first field trip that my daughter has had since starting school last year. Covid put a stop to all field trips and now there is a bus driver shortage which has not only affected extracurricular events but also sports events. All our district sports require parents to transport their children, as there are not enough bus drivers.
100 Heads Challenge
One of my goals for 2022, was to complete the 100 heads challenge. The challenge is to draw 10 heads per day, for 10 days. I started off by giving myself a time constraint, but I wasn’t happy with the results, so I opted to take more time per head regardless of it taking more than 10 days. It ended up taking a month.
I started by setting a timer for 6 minutes, per head. That was a challenge along with the pen I was using. I don’t have any practice at hatching and after this, I really want to learn.
I wasn’t liking the pen, so I opted for a pencil. More 6 minute sketches.
I really enjoyed sketching the wrinkles on these older ladies.
I decided to give my new Sailor Fude De Mannen – Stroke Style Calligraphy Fountain Pen – Bamboo Green a try on the next two layouts.
I recently purchased 2 dozen of these Prismacolor Col-Erase Erasable Colored Pencils. I really like the way the red pencil looks.
For my last head, I worked in watercolor. I limited myself to 30 minutes for this head.
Tea Day
I am joining the tea day ladies, hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My tea today is Organic India Tulsi Masala Chai Herbal Tea. I got this tea today for a good deal. I have had several flavors from this brand but not this one, so I am excited to give this a try.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Kate, I like the faces with the fountain pen the best. I found faces on each page that were very interesting! At a former church, we used to go every fall to a corn maze and pumpkin patch at night and try to find our way thru the maze with flashlights. LOL
Happy T Day!
What amazing faces Kate. They are impressive, and good for you to complete this challenge.. And How fun you went with your daughter on her field trip. I used to go on occasion when I could get a day off, and it was always fun. I remember them to this day. I hope you have a super T day and week ahead. Are you going to continue to draw more faces even though the challenge is over. Hugs-Erika
