Is Hobby Lobby Inspirational?: Daily Art Practice

Couch Talk

I took a break from blogging last week but I thought I would share what I did on the previous weeks Artist’s Date. While in the home decor section at Hobby Lobby, I saw this piece of wall art and thought, “I could make that.” I even have the perfect spot across from our toilet to display it. Maybe one of these days I will sit down and make my own bathroom version of this Word Search. It would be the perfect diversion for guests and quite the conversation piece. Would you display this in your Bathroom?

Daily Art Practice

I took several pictures of items that caught my eye, while browsing. Hobby Lobby already had their Christmas decor on display. I usually have a rule that I will not browse a Christmas aisle until around Thanksgiving, but I wanted the whole experience, so I went down every single aisle. I love looking at decor and getting ideas, but I didn’t buy anything. It was mainly a trip to get inspiration.

When I got home, I sketched and water-colored a few of my favorite items from the pictures I took and journaled about my experience. Before going on Artist’s Dates, I never thought to browse a store, snap some pictures and make art from what I saw. I have really enjoyed these outings, especially since I don’t always have to spend money.

Tea Day

I am joining the Tea Day ladies, hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My tea today is Yogi Pumpkin Spice Tea . I love spice tea so I thought I would give this one a try. As typical of Yogi Tea’s, it has a medicinal/herb-like taste. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting but I didn’t find it unpleasant. Next time I may try adding some heated milk and honey.

Happy Tea Day,

Kate

  • I don’t think I have a wall that the word search would fit on. Not in my main floor bath OR my basement bath. However, it is clever and I suspect it will be easy for you to replicate it and make it your own.

I often take photos of places I visit. That’s why I have so many photos of The Spice Merchant., Of course, I could NEVER draw the items of which I take photos, so I’m delighted you shared your lovely art with us.

‘Tis the season for all things pumpkin. Your tea sounds delightful. Thanks so very much for sharing your art and your tea with us for T this week, dear Kate. Glad you are back. I missed you last week.

  • That’s an interesting picture. I wouldn’t be able to hang it in my bathroom because the sink is directly across from the toilet. and I’d rather have my mirror than a picture. Luckily the mirror is higher than the toilet so you can’t see yourself…smile. Nice drawings Kate, and pumpkin spice tea sounds great for October and these chilly nights we are now having.. Happy T day. hugs-Erika

  • Very nicely done. Your art is always perfection. HB is about 100 miles away, even when we in that city HB is just too expensive to shop at. Yes, there is some good inspiration but too far to go for that. LOL Have a good evening.

  • We have a very small toilet – it was part of the kitchen long ago. Ingo can hardly turn around in there.
At the door we have a poster “toilet graffiti”.
My Brother once stayed in there for a really long time, LOL.
Think twice where you want to have your guests 😉
Christmas… yes, just around the corner.
Ingo made pumpkin with loads of cinnamon. Your tea looks temting!
    Happy T-Day with that.

  • I like it, but my walls are full! I do have a book of word-games and quizes in case anybody wants to play. The pages are perforated, so if anyone were to start a page they can easily take it home with them! Happy T Day, Valerie
