Koala’s Need Glasses, Too! : Daily Art Practice
Couch Talk
Isn’t this little koala bear adorable? My son received this for Christmas to hold his glasses. Speaking of glasses, we spent some time at the eye glass place today because my son broke his glasses. Usually, we know it is time for an eye exam when his glasses brake, but this pair lasted over a year! Maybe he is growing out of destroying a pair every few months, wouldn’t that would be exciting? When I went to schedule an exam, the earliest was 3 months out so it’s a good thing he has a backup pair. It seems to be the norm now to have several months wait time for Dr.’s appointments. Another reason I am thankful that we are healthy. I can’t imagine how difficult these wait times are for people that are in pain.
Daily Art Practice
Today’s shopfront is LE Brun. It is a beautiful restaurant in Paris that has delicious and elegant looking fare. I read that the exterior of the building is known for its black marble. The reference photo I used is HERE. Instead of painting this shopfront in my shopfront sketchbook, which is 5×5, I opted for a larger 5×7 piece of Arches Watercolor Paper. I wanted to accommodate the height of the building, which can be tricky in my smaller sketchbook. I used Holbein Artist Watercolors and Caran d’Ache Gouache .
For those of you that have been to Paris, have you been to LE Brun?
Tea Day
I am joining the Tea Day ladies, hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My tea today is Yogi Tea Stomach Ease. I just ordered another case of this tea. I drink 1 cup a day and it really helps regulate my digestive system. AND it taste good too. My son loves this and always asks for a sip. I haven’t told him it’s for digestion.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Hi Kate, your art is amazing!! I have been reading about very long dr wait times too. sad I love the koala bear for holding glasses-too cute
Happy T hugs Kathy
That is the cutest glasses holder I’ve seen. When I called to see my ophthalmologist it took me 4.5 months to get an appointment, It’s crazy, isn’t it? This week’s drawing practice came out amazing Kate.. You’ve really got this building drawing down. Have a great T day and week ahead. hugs-Erika
Kate, I wish I could remember! We were in Paris 31 years ago! It looks familiar. Your replication is wonderful! I love the little koala bear and he is adorable. Happy T Day.
This Koala is really cute and great to hold eyeglasses. The painting is beautiful too. Happy T-Day!
Awwww, so cute! I have an owl for that (and once touched a real Koala… their fur is… WOW.)
Same here. I need an appointment … end of March!!
Crazy this problem seems to be all around the world with doctors. Sad.
Your art is wonderful (as always :-)!!)
Did you let go of the selling-idea?
Paris… Let me count…1986. No, haven´t been in there! Gosh, now I feel old!
But you reminded me of a very handsome, cute “boy-friend” I got there. (I´ve been there two weeks in his family, and later his sister, my age, in mine).
I even watched “Purple Rain” in French with him just to cuddle up!
Happy T-Day 🙂
LOL. I was told to tell people: “Do NOT read my instructions” – and they will. Seems you do the same in reverse. Anything that works, right?
I had a little toy koala like that when I was a child, and then my daughter had one when she was a child. It’s cute!

That koala is a great gift for your son’s glasses. I am amazed at the wait time for eye exams. Glad he has a spare pair.
That building/shop in Paris is beautifully recreated in your watercolors. I am in awe, as always.
Glad you have a tea that helps your digestion. Sounds like your son likes it, too. Thanks for sharing your son’s glasses holder, your beautiful biding in Paris, and your tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear Kate.
Hi Kate! Happy T day!! I have been to Paris but not that store front.. Love your painted store fronts!! We have not had problems with doc appts too much .. thank goodness! Hugs! deb
Just too cute. I love this piece of art. You always amaze me. I need that tea right now. Have a nice day .
Great post. Your painting is lovely and I can picture the place quite well. I’ve been to Paris but not that spot. I’m going to look for the tea you posted, always interested in a new tea.
The koala eye glass holder is adorable. I love your watercolor buildings. Seeing them makes me feel like I’ve traveled the world. Happy T Day
Wonderful art and the koala is so pretty. I need new glasses too, perhaps I can go next week to choose some. Happy T Day,hugs,Valerie
Love that koala bear! That’s such a great idea, it’s how amazing it holds glasses and I bet your son love it too 😊. Fabulous paintings and delicious tea. Happy T Day wishes! Hugs Jo x
The koala to hold your son’s glasses is really cute.
I visited Paris many times, but I haven’t been to Le Brun. There are so many nice restaurants in Paris and many of them look just like your beautiful painting.
Beautiful building, Kate. You captured the charm and warmth – so well done.
Eye glasses and boys – always an adventure. My daughter has the same type adventures with my youngest grandson. I agree on the doctor waits – even for things that seem super important. It is a bit scary when you think of it. Things like cancer can change a lot in 3 months….Pain for 3 months is very hard too. I have seen some doctors starting to be more restrictive in issues they see too – like dermatologists that only work on skin cancer now.
The tea must be super good if you are ordering cases of it and your kids like it.
Happy T-day and hugz
great specs holder. Also great for keeping children’s glasses scratch freee (If they remember to use the koala).
I have tried three times to comment and it won’t let me. So this is the short version.
Have a great weekend,
hugs,
Lisca
the koala glasses holder is so cute! I haven’t been to that restaurant but I like your painting of it. I also like the stomach ease tea, very effective. I’m very late to the party. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
