Misty Mountains With My Tea: Daily Art Practice
Couch Talk
One of my favorite things about living in the mountains, is the view. This picture was taken while I was driving (very carefully). This is the bypass that goes behind our house and our town is in the valley, which is covered in mist. No matter how many times I see it, it still makes me catch my breath. God’s creation is stunning, and I never want to go back to the suburbs!
Daily Art Practice
I have been taking a break from painting shopfronts but I still have a few to share. One of this year’s goals is to complete a book of 88 shopfronts and I have 60 completed so far. There are 28 left to finish so it will be close. Hopefully, I will get my “shopfront mojo” back soon.
Here is another shopfront from our little town, The Square Cafe and Bakery. My husband and I have eaten here, and we had a delicious pulled pork sandwich. This building has a lot of tile work on the exterior, so I just suggested it with color. I struggled with the white lettering on the sign as I am not great at writing with a small paint brush. If only I could find an extra fine point white pen that works over paint.
The second building from our town is East End Coffee. It is a new coffee shop that has done well in our town. They opened up a second location in a nearby town. I don’t drink coffee so I rarely visit but they support local artisans by selling their art, so I enjoy going in just to browse.
Tea Day
I am joining the Tea Day ladies, hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My tea today is Yogi Stomach Ease. I drink this frequently for my digestive issues but sometimes I enjoy it just because I like the taste.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
That foggy mountain view is gorgeous. I wouldn’t want to leave it either.. And you’ve done really well with your shop fronts. Plus they are so fun to look at. I’m filling in for Elizabeth this week since she’s at jury duty, so let me say thanks for joining T this week. I hope you have a super T day and week ahead Kate. hugs-Erika
Those are – as usual – wonderful drawings!!!!
Thank you for sharing and have a happy T-Day!
Your shop front watercolors are always fun to see. And your mountain scenery is very pleasant too.

I always envy your painting skill. I should try that rea.
That is a beautiful view. I wonder where you live. Your art is always very impressive. Have a very beautiful day.
I hope you can get to 88 shopfronts before the end of the year, it does seem to speed up around now though doesn’t it. Love the mountain views. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
Wow, what a stunning view! You live in a beautiful place 😊. Such pretty paintings too. Happy T Day wishes! Hugs Jo x
I just love your store fronts! Hope you get your MoJo back soon! Happy T day! Hugs! deb
Lovely mountain view. I always enjoy your watercolors., too. Happy T Day
Kate, I was in a class on Saturday and the instructor mentioned a White pen with a fine point. I just asked her what it was Uni-Ball Signp Angelic Gel Pen
What a coincidence that your post has the same title as mine! That view of the misty mountains is definitely very beautiful.
Would a white Posca pen work? Or have you tried the PITT pens by Faber-Castell? I wouldn’t be able to write with a thin brush either, so maybe those would work.
It certainly does look beautiful – there really is something wonderful about mountains and mists! I love the coffee shop sketches – good luck with achieving your target. Happy T Day, Chrisx
You are so good, Kate. Beautiful art and photos. Happy T Day.
