My Books Are Like Gold : Mixed Media Art Journal Layout
Summer Reading
Summer is finally here and the children are out of school. I am developing a routine for our days so we have some sense of accomplishment. Along with weekly library visits, we are observing a daily reading time. I will also have plenty of time to read while poolside so I am picking out my summer reads. Recently, I found a few new authors that I enjoyed so I thought I would share them with you in case your are looking for something good to read.
The first author is Juliet Marillier. She writes historical fantasy fiction mostly based on fairy tales with a lot of story telling. I loved these two novels but it was a rough start. I found that minimal distractions were the key to enjoying this author.
Vilette by Charlotte Bronte was a fabulous read but I warn you, the ending is unexpected.
Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth is a woman’s radio speaker. I have enjoyed many of her books but this one was the best. A very encouraging read.
Creating the Layout
I just love these Egyptian stamps by Lynne Perrella for PaperArtsy. The gold Fresco Finish paint is my favorite touch to glamour up these images.
I used the Art Deco Wallpaper and Kilim Pattern Stencils in the background with Fresco Finish chalk paints and a gold embossed script stamp.
I layered some book paper, fiber, thread and tea bags behind the stamped images.
Tea Day
Today is T day and I am playing along with the ladies over at Elizabeth and Bleubeard. I am sharing a White Green Pear tea today. I have shared this before but it is so yummy that I save it for special times when I need to relax. I love that you can see the rosebuds and the various colors of the leaves.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Happy early T day Kate. Although the kids are underfoot, it must be nice to have a break from the routine. Love the way this journal is. Is it paper bags and then you decorated the tops? Very cool! Enjoy this down time and fun with your kids. Hugs-Erika
Your book reads this summer will surely keep you entertained. Your journal spread is wonderful. It really IS gold! I’m super impressed with the layering and the paint colors you chose, but the gold was the icing on the cake. Most impressive indeed. This is such a well thought out spread, too. Great attention to detail, without a single misstep.
Your tea looks beautiful. Yes, I see the rose buds and the very different colors of green in the leaves. It really looks fresh and yummy. Thanks for sharing yo8ur summer book choices, your incredible journal pages, and your tea with us for T this week, dear Kate.
