My Craft Room Tour

Tour

It has been a while since we have completed our family room remodel aka Kate’s craft area. My hubby did an amazing job of painting the walls, putting down flooring, baseboards and woodwork. The last time I shared pictures, I still had a plastic craft table from Walmart. My husbands former place of work had an auction to sell off their equipment and I was blessed to purchase an industrial work table and a metal rolling cart for my work space. With the exception of wall art, I think I can finally call the space complete.

I have storage bins and painted dresser drawers full of various overflow supplies on the metal cart. The black armoire houses bins of journals, misc stamps, adhesives and all of my flowers. On top I have bins containing more misc items, foliage and completed mini albums. The small black table against my work desk is my sewing table.

My peg board is full of chipboard, canvas and die cut embellishments and stickers.  Alterable items are in the cabinet on the floor. And of course, my ironing board.

My book shelves house all my fabric, sewing notions, yarn and patterned paper pads.

Here is my amazing desk that I purchased for a steal! It has a whole row of outlets across the back, an overhead light, 4 draws on the side, 2 overhead shelves and the height of the whole desk is adjustable. And for the first time, I have a very comfortable desk chair.

Storage

Most of my bins are dollar store finds that were bright green. I used a can of spray paint to make them match my room. They hold misc scrap paper, stamped images and other random embellishments that I use frequently.

The second shelf has all my glass jars and tins full of beads, buttons, brads, thread and metal embellishments.

I wrapped all my trims and laces around recycled packaging and cardboard. They are all displayed in an old painted dresser drawer.

The bottom drawer of my armoire is filled with lots of pretty flowers.

Organizers full of envelopes, alterable albums and random fabric swatches.

Binders full of red rubber and clear stamps, Bind-it-all, Sizzix Big Shot, and adhesives.

Shelves of folded fabric used for making clothes for my daughter and other sewing projects.

Yarn that I use for my knitting projects. There haven’t been many of those as of late but hopefully in the future. The bottom two shelves are full of paper pads and paper kits.

A drawer full stamp sets.

Mixed media supplies: Paints, Sprays, Infusions and gel mediums

More paints, re-inkers, embossing powders, and wood block stamps.

Tea Day

I just love Tea Day! Not only is this tea beautiful to look at but it taste yummy. Today’s tea is Dragonfruit Devotion Herbal Tea by Teavana. It has chunks of guava, strawberry and dragonfruit with floral hints of rose and magnolia. I love the  fruity, light taste. Join the T ladies over at Elizabeth and Bleubeard’s and share your drink themed post.

The Layered Art Journal

Don’t forget to put this Saturday on your calendar if you live in the area. I would love to see you at our art journaling class.

Happy Tea Day!

  • I am in LUST. You have the ideal craft space. You even have room for a real ironing board and lots of shelving and storage, too. Great lighting and bins within easy reach make this a space I could LIVE in. One thing that gets me is how much fabric you have. I have lots of fabric, but mine are itty bitty scraps that aren’t good for much. In fact, I purchased 4″ of fabric the other day. How would YOU keep those types of fabric? Curious minds would love any help I can get.

Your tea sounds delicious. It makes me want to get out my herbal tea and join you, Kate. This look lush. Thanks for sharing your awesomely awesome craft room and your herbal tea with us for T this Tuesday.

  • Wow, Kate – I’m practically drooling. What a wonderfully organized and beautiful craft space. You have almost everything visible and at your fingertips. That industrial desk is awesome. What a fun space to play in. Enjoy!

[and as you asked: over here in germany we normally do not have AC in our houses. some offices etc may have, but usually we do not have so many hot weeks in the year we needed AC… so far, but climate change definitely is challenging!]

  • Kate, I am just sitting here marveling at God’s provision! I know how you stressed with your husband changed jobs, but just look at how you’ve been held in the palm of God’s hand and have your needs and desires met with grace. I really needed that reminder today. Your space is just perfect in every way, especially that it overlooks the family room and you are a part of what’s going on (even if you’re in your own little world). The table and all of your storage are perfect for your needs and look FANTASTIC! This is really amazing my friend and I couldn’t be happier for you. Big hugs, Autumn

  • What a fabulous space you have for your craft area and so organised too! I definitely have desk (and light) envy! If I lived nearby I would definitely be attending the workshop! I love your layered art journal pages! Belated Happy T Day! Chrisx

  • Wow Kate, what an amazing space to create, you are so lucky! Your desk is absolutely incredible, I love the whole design of it, what a find!! (just noticed you store your Distress Markers upright, I have heard they dry out much faster that way, – you should put them on their side I think). Anyway, the whole place is so well organised, a labour of love for sure! And oh my goodness, I always thought I had a lot of stuff….he, he, I think you have well and truly beaten me on that score…

  • KATE!

Thanks so much for bring us along with you and sharing your space!
