My Little Birds Are Taking Flight : Mixed Media Card

Fly To School

I know several parts of the country have already started back to school and this is the week our area goes back. My boys have become restless and are ready for the structure of the class room. Nerf wars in the woods, reading in the sun, swimming and chores is fun but believe it or not, it gets old for little boys. (Well, not the chore part) They were so excited to attend their orientations and see their new classrooms. I love that they enjoy school and learning and I am looking forward to seeing what new knowledge they acquire this coming year.

Creating the Card

I recently made this card for a baby shower. The bird and cloud stamps are by PaperArtsy and the perfect cutsie images for the occasion. I used vintage book paper for the background and layered a few scraps of fabric. It’s pretty simple but sometimes that is all I have time for.

Tea Day

Today for Tea day I am sharing a Teavana Maharaja Chai Loose-Leaf Oolong Tea. This tea is SO yummy and is full of spice and sweet. I am joining the T-ladies over at Elizabeth and Bleubeard.

Happy Tea Day,

Kate

  • Loved your card and the tea looks delicious-doesn’t seem like it should be the end of summer already-happy school for your kids Happy T wishes Kathy

  • That card is awesome. It’s NOT simple, dear. It’s beautiful. I adore it and think it’s perfect for a baby shower. It’s a gift in itself.

Students here started school last week, which surprised me, since we don’t normally start till after Labor Day. It sounds like your boys will be glad to get back to school. That’s encouraging.

Your tea looks good. You come up with the most complex blends and this looks beautiful. I am sure it tastes as good as it looks and as you described it. Thanks for sharing your card and your tea with us for T this Tuesday.

  • Such fun artwork! I love those little birds, they are super cute ๐Ÿ˜. Your tea looks fabulous too – yum! I hope you’ve had a great couple of week and wishing you a very happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x

  • such a cute card Kate. Nice that your boys are getting excited about school. Our son used to enjoy going back too- but mostly to see friends again:) I love chai tea in the cold months. Happy T day!

  • I adore this card – different from your usual style, but so whimsical and charming. I’ve got some book page substrate pieces under way at the moment, and it reminds me how much I love that depth you get from having the text there. I love the pretty colours and charming PA stamps. Hope your boys have a great time starting back at school.

  • Next week is back to school here. As a teacher I can’t say I am ready to start all the work, but I think it is because summer break is so long you get out routine. Cute little birdies and hope it was a happy T day Kate. Hugs-Erika

  • What a lovely card. I love the bird stamps.
I’m glad your children like school. I used to love school as a child and I too would be chomping at the bit to go back at the end of the holidays.
Your nirvana, sorry Teavana tea looks very nice. Are those stones in there or is it sugar?
    Happy belated T-Day,
    Hugs,

  • What a darling card, Kate. The end of summer was always bittersweet for me when our son as young. Not only because he was going back to school and our walks in the woods picking berries, then making jam were over. But also because I was a teacher and had to go back to work. I loved teaching but always found the adjustment hard. I’m glad your boys are excited to return. That’s a great way to start.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx
