My Mood Spells More Sleep: Mixed Media Mail Art

Couch Talk

Our Thanksgiving was relaxing and I enjoyed it so much that I don’t want to get back to normal routine. But school starts tomorrow morning so I need to arrive at my son’s desk well rested and pleasant. I am hoping this week is profitable as I have a lot of projects that need to be started, as well as finished.

Have you decorated for Christmas? I took out all my bins but have yet to dig the decorations out. I haven’t been in the mood to pull everything apart only to have to put it back in a few weeks. And as of late, those weeks feel like days. For the first time ever, I am thinking I may forgo decorating.

What about you? Have you ever had a year where you didn’t decorate for Christmas?

I am over at the PaperArtsy blog today sharing some mail art made for the current theme: Moodboards. You can have a look HERE.

Sketching

I finished my sketch of the man in the glasses.

And here is a new sketch that I am working on. All I can say is, wrinkles are hard!

Tea Day

I am joining the Tea Day ladies over at Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My new tea is Harney and Sons Green Hot Cinnamon Loose Tea. I am almost positive that that my last tea caused the hives. I contacted Harney & Sons and asked if I could send the tea back for an exchange. They sent me a credit and didn’t ask me to send back the tea, which isn’t surprising. I purchased this tea instead and it is delicious! I love that they offer it in green tea as well as well as black. This tea has a delicious amount of spice and I love it. I would definitely recommend this tea to anyone that loves the taste of cinnamon.

Happy Tea Day,

Kate

  • Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. I decorated my home on Friday as I always do the day after Thanksgiving. It’s a tradition with me. I admit, I pared down a lot this year, because I am decorating for me only this year, since I’m not letting anyone in my home.

Your art is lovely and your sketches are beautiful. Most impressive. It was nice of Harney & Sons to give you a credit. You must be a good customer. And your new tea sounds wonderful, too. I LOVE anything cinnamon. Thanks for sharing your art (at Paper Artsy), your sketches, and your tea with us for T this almost Tuesday, Kate.

  • We just have Christmas-stuff (a wee bit) all year round. Lazy, huh? But then… Santa needs to live somewhere!
Hmmm… Palermo! And your sketch is great! And Cinnamon! Yum. Happy T-day šŸ™‚

  • Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving Kate, I thought it would be a downer with all the covid restrictions but it was really relaxing and nice. And for Christmas items, I actually mm the opposite of you this year, I feel like decorating. It does seem like a lot of work though for just a month, but it is making me feel excited about something. And there hasn’t been much big excitement for a awhile. Loving the art snippets today too. Have a great week. And happy T day and December. Hugs-Erika

  • Glad you had a relaxing Thanksgiving. Christmas is allot of work especially when yo u have a young family at home-I am thinking they will love to help you decorate. This year especially we need to spread happiness and Christmas usually does that for many
I enjoy seeing your art and love your tea choices Happy T wishes Kathy

  • The year my Mother died, I didn’t decorate for Christmas. My heart wasn’t in it. This year I put up the decorations earlier than I normally do, to try to boost my spirits, which are down due to the ongoing stress of covid-19 lurking. But my emotions are still not in a good place, despite the decorations. Your artwork looks lovely. Your sketches are very good. Happy T-Day!

  • Nice to have enjoyed a relaxing holiday. No decorations are out here yet- I have this thing about not starting until December arrives:):) There was a year we didn’t decorate- it was a time of too many losses and it just wasn’t in my heart. Will probably get things out and done over the coming weekend.
What a great sketch of the man in the glasses- he has such a gentle nature about him. I’m sure your man with the wrinkles will be just fine. You seem to have a knack for drawing.
Now this tea sounds good to me- I’m already thinking of chai tea now;) Happy T day!

  • Sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I love Christmas and decorations in our house go up on 1st December so we’ve started putting them up today, it normally takes a few days to complete this as I decorate 5 rooms in total …lol šŸ˜€. Enjoy yourself with the home schooling and possibly putting up the decorations. Take care and sending you happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

  • Hi Kate. I refuse to celebrate christmas so I haven’t decorated in 45 plus years. That doesn’t mean I don’t respect those who do celebrate. I like seeing how people decorate their homes. Your sketches are really coming along wonderfully. Yes, wrinkles are tricky. Can’t wait to see this one finished. Hot cinnamon spice tea, is there anything better? Have a very nice day.

  • I’ve started to put up Christmas decorations. I’ve never skipped decorating for Christmas. Just having them out brings back emeories of people who gave or made them. But then, I don’t have kids to home school and organize or a career that requires a lot of time. Do you worry that the kids would miss them and remember this as the year Christmas mever came?

I love your masterboards over at PA.

Your face sketching is really improving. Wrinkles require so much shading. I tend to draw portraits of people when they were young, especially family members. (grin)

Thank you for your IG account. I’m going to start to Explore! I guess I need to put some of my stuff up too.

Happy T-day! Stay safe and well. Hugs, Eileen

  • Last week was cleaning and putting up the Christmas curtains.. This week, I’ve started putting up decorations. we bought the wreaths and planters for the window boxes and the mailbox. I made bows for the wreaths today. Two will be going to cemeteries. I decorated the wreath that will go on my door, but I’m waiting for the glue to dry. Items for the creche are on the dining room table. As soon as that pageant is completed, I’ll get the tree. Since Himself can no longer carry large boxes and climb stairs, I have down-sized the Christmas tree. The 4 ft tree and ornaments are in closets on the main floor and I can manage lugging those out by myself. I’d be very happy with just my Christmas pageant and the Advent tree, but Himself would call me Grinch. Your portraits are wonderful. Take care and Happy T Day
