One Can Never Have Enough Elephants : Mixed Media Tag
Elephants
We have a bit of an elephant obsession in our house and I am always looking for more to add to our collection. My daughter loves elephants as well, especially Horton from Dr. Suess’s Horton Hears a Who. Carving this elephant stamp was only the start and I can see several more variations in the future. When it comes to decor I have been looking for some elephant paintings as inspiration and here are a few of the ones I found.
I am thinking of painting a watercolor for one of my walls. Aren’t these beautiful? If I don’t paint one maybe I will just purchase one of these.
Creating the Tag
So, it has been a while since I sat at my craft table. At least a month. To get my head back in the game I made a quick tag today using a few of my hand carved stamps and a discarded tag.
The background was created using several StencilGirl stencils, PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Paints and a white pen.
I used gold embossing powder around the edges and on the stamped images to accent.
Tea Day
I am joining in with the T-ladies over at Elizabeth and Bleubeard’s. My drink today is a Tomo Sencha Green Tea. It has a bit of a flowery taste that goes along with the green tea. I was surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did as it is different than my usual fruity fare.

I also love your elephants, Kate. I created several pages for a friend in her altered book that are elephants. Yours puts mine to shame, though because I didn’t carve my stamps and I’m not even sure I used more than one stamp, and it wasn’t an elephant, either.

I am in awe of you hand carved elephant stamp. Beautiful. Elephants are such interesting animals. I read a fascinating book called Elephant Moon by John Sweeney. (This novel is based on a little-known true story of the Second World War when a herd of 53 elephants was used by a young English schoolteacher to rescue a band of orphans in Burma and transport them to the safety of India). Elephants are very intelligent as you no doubt know.
The elephant prints you showed are all beautiful. My favorite has to be the middle one.
Your tag is awesome. I love the blues and of course the stamp.
I think I will give your tea a miss. I’m not into flower teas.

It is a fantastic elephant tag and so is your hand carved stamp. The pictures of the elephants you shared all look great as well. I hope you will show us pictures when you start painting your own wall. The tea sounds interesting, I kind of stick to known brands I like and am not so adventurous at trying new blends.

Lovely tag. I specially like the colors. When the Young one came along, I decorated her room with elephants. She preferred a stuffed dog she found in the stuffed animal bin. At one time, I had over 100 teddy bears. Happy T Day

OMGosh, with your talent, Kate, you have to paint your own elephant canvas! I love the majestic look of the middle one with his/her ears fanned out. But it depends on what appeals to you (and your littles). Your stamp is marvelous and so is the tag.
