One Cup at a Time: Mixed Media Art Journal Layout

Tea

“Take Life One Cup at a  Time” has been my moto as of late. As the holidays draw near, I have been thinking a lot of all the things that need to be done and that tends to put the stress on. My tea cup has been my constant companion these last few weeks. But it also has me thinking about gift giving which is always fun. I love searching through my Pinterest boards for new ideas. Making gifts is what I prefer but let’s face it, a girl only has so much time. Every year I make an effort to plan ahead but fail miserably, scrambling at the last minute.  Hopefully, I can get myself together this year. I’ll let you know how it goes.

What homemade gifts do you make?

Creating the Journal Layout

I made this layout using Grunge paste and a PaperArtsy stencil. I love that this stencil is tea themed! I used PA Freco Finish paints in the background along with some new PA stamps.

I stamped in the background and layered stamped images, thread, and a TH paper doll. The fabric is leftover from one of the dresses I recently made for daughter. PA Infusions were sprayed in the background and gesso was splattered.

Tea Day

Tea day is my favorite day of the week and I couldn’t wait to share with you my recent win. I won these 5 pouches of tea during a Facebook giveaway by Tiesta Tea. Every morning, I make a 3 quart pot of FRUITY PEBBLES TIESTA TEA |Green Tea Slenderizer Blend (green package). I am really excited to try all of these flavors, particularly the yellow pouch. Mango sounds delicious to my fruit loving palette.

I am playing along with Elizabeth and Bleubeard as well as all of the T-Day ladies.

Happy Tea Day,

Kate

  • fantastic textures, layers and bits on your journal page-and that is a very useful and fab looking stamp set you used too! Congrats on your tea win-so fun trying new teas and flavors. Happy T day!

  • I loved the quote you added to the gorgeous journal spread. The layers look amazing.
Congratulations on winning the teas, the flavours sound delicious, I would like to try the mango one as well.
    Happy T day wishes Kate.

  • Good morning, your journal pages are always so amazing. I start to drink more hot tea now that that the seasons are changing into cooler weather-how fun that won some teas! I love making handmade gifts-In the past I have made allot of liquers like kaluha to share with adult friends, I also make other food gifts I have been making my own Christmas cards for several years now too Happy T hugs kathy

  • Another absolutely STUNNING spread, Kate. A real beauty. The first thing I noticed were the lovely markers on both sides of the page. From the overall view, I first thought they were old CNC tape (a tape that told a specific machine where to go next and what to do, like drill, rotate, etc.). The tape had raised dots. It’s a fabulous entry, and I love the fact it is tea related, too. The sentiment is perfect.

Congrats on your tea win, dear. I’m happy for you and look forward to seeing more of these teas as you test each one.

I make ALL my gifts each year, even though people sometimes roll their eyes when they get them. I’ve made everything from small art quilts, scrapbooks for people to write in and add photos (made from old file folders), herb infused vinegar and oils, salmon smoked in my smoker, drink tiles, wood art, and teas made from various herbs I grow. Don’t stress and have a plan. Then you can stick to it and create in your spare time. You still have at least a month and a half to get things you want made.

Thanks for sharing your lovely spread and your won tea treats with us for T this Tuesday, dear.

  • Absolutely love our motto: “Take Life One Cup at a Time” and how you incorporated it on that tea bag on your wonderful journal page! What a nice win, too! Enjoy your tea!

  • A tea-themed stencil – how cool, Kate. The spread is just beautiful. The tea bag with “take life one cup at a time” is perfect. I don’t stress (much) about holidays anymore. What gets done, gets done. And the rest wasn’t necessary 😉

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  • I love your motto and your page. Yup, this is the time of year when we stress ourselves out. Each year a struggle to come up with a gift that isn’t underwhelming. And really, what can’t people buy themselves that they need me to give? Ooopps, my inner Grinch is coming out. I try to make gifts. One year, I did home-made vanilla extract. Bought cute bottles, spent a small fortune on vanilla beans, and vodka. At least it would be a tasty, useful gift if it was underwhelming. One year, I did illuminated initials with gold gilding. But there’s only so much artwork you can put on the wall. Guess I’ll mull gift giving over a cup of tea. Enjoy your teas. Happy T Day.

  • A lovely textured page with so many gorgeous things going on! I love that quote! I always feel inspired to make my own gifts, too, but then lack of time interferes. I do usually manage to make a few cards and one or two small painted or stitched gifts for family or my best friend.

  • there’s a lovely bright freshness to these pages, and then just those dark scribbles adding the grungy depth – a brilliant page spread as always, Kate.
    Enjoy your tea winnings!

  • Another gorgeous page. And what a fantastic stencil. So appropriate for T-Day too.
How exciting that you won those bags of tea. They sound so interesting.
Present giving? I am lucky in that we don’t give each other presents here. Not for Christmas anyway. But I have made home made liquors, home made soap and countless christmas cakes and steam puddings. I also have a habit of designing photo books online and then have them printed to gift to family members. I use my digital scrapbooking skills to make a really nice book. I do one for my mum every year with photos of my grandson (her great grandson). She loves it.
    Happy T-Day,
    Lisca

  • I would really like to see your great page in person. It has so much texture. As for gifts, I usually knit a few things. I always have a knitting project on the go.
