One Room Oasis : Our Master Bathroom Remodel
I hosted Easter this year and we had a wonderful time with family, celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I tried an angel food cake for the first time and it was also gluten free which led to some challenges. The first batch, I tried had coconut palm sugar but the granules were too heavy so the egg whites never turned stiff, even after an hour of whisking at full speed. Yes, I said an hour. I was afraid my motor was going to burn out due to the heat it was giving off.
I started a second batch with white sugar and it turned out beautifully. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the right pan. It came out golden brown and set but when it came out of the pan I found a few wet areas and a small amount of deflating. Sad I know. But we skipped the wet spots and with whipped cream and a bit of fresh fruit, it tasted delicious. You can find the recipe HERE.
I may have to try this again to perfect it. Who knew Angel food cake took skill?
Master Bathroom Remodel Finally Complete (It’s only been 6 months)
The few things on backorder finally landed on our doorstep. The only thing missing to our bathroom is a few pieces of wall art. We are SO excited that we waited the backorders and construction delays out. It was worth it!
Our bathroom mood board started out as follows. We wanted the bathroom to be a mash of both of our styles. Modern and Global. Along the way we made changes based on budget, backorders and out of stock items. While it is not completely as planned, I think being flexible is important in any remodel.
Originally, we were planning on replacing the cabinet, but due to the larger than normal measurements, it would have blown our budget. As a result of the cabinet being in good condition, we decided to keep it and give it a makeover. I planned on matching the paint color to the green on the mirrors but the girl at the paint counter did a very poor job of matching the paint and then told me she couldn’t fix it. I brought the paint home and painted the cabinet anyway. The color grew on us despite it not matching the mirrors and I rather like the brightness.
When it came to buying a rug, I saved a bunch, most of them bright and multi-colored. I planned on getting another one, but this nuLOOM Marisela Tribal Runner Rug in yellow showed up in my feed as a flash deal and I decided to give it a try. If we didn’t like it I knew I could place it elsewhere in our home. Well, after testing several rugs, this one was the one hubby and I loved the most.
Before and After: Shower
We love these Bamboo Shower Benchs. We purchased two and love that they are moveable and made to withstand the constant moisture. Our last bench kept getting mildew so this one is perfect.
Here is a close-up of the shower tile. I smile every time I see it.
Before and After: Long view
We placed this arched wall to separate the main room from the toilet room. We like having a secluded toilet space instead of one open room.
Before and After: Bathtub
How about that light? Beautiful and relaxing with the rest of the lights off. It wasn’t in our original plan but I am so glad that we deviated. And I love these Ultra Soft Absorbent Chenille Bathroom Rugs, Non Slip Thick Floor Mats that we bought.
Gallery wall above our tub
I bought a calendar, cut them down and framed them onto this gallery wall. My wonderful hubby used a laser and his engineering skills to make this nice and straight. I have to say, every time I see it, I LOVE it!
I love these Smyrna Original Turkish Hand Towels 100% Cotton (Black). They are very absorbent and they look so stylish. They go perfectly with my hammered copper sinks with waterfall faucets.
Carved Wood boxes to store our toiletries on the counter
We found these beautiful vintage carved boxes for a steal at an Antique mall on our Anniversary trip last year.
Succulents in toilet room
While these lights were not my first choice, we couldn’t wait any longer for lighting. I had a beautiful silver pierced pendant light picked out but they have been out of stock for 8 months. But thankfully, lighting is easy to change up so if the lights ever come back in stock, I may decide to change these out. These lights were second on my list and while they look nothing like my first choice, I really like them.

I am joining the T day ladies over at Elizabeth and Bleubeards‘s. My hubby bought me this for Christmas. I am enjoying this Teavana Lemon Ginger Bliss, Herbal Tea in the morning and after dinner. It is the perfect tummy soothing tea.
Happy Tea Day,
