Oolong and Some Faces: A Couch Adventure
Couch Talk
We are expecting another week of snow. The weather is predicting several snow falls of another 12-16 inches total. I am going to have to stock up on hot chocolate and marshmallows. I have enjoyed staying home and am looking forward to another week of being homebound. Being home and trying not to eat all the baking has been a struggle but I find no matter how hard I try to stop I can’t. I love baking.
Baking
This Sourdough Lemon Cake with Glaze is SOO delicious. I made two loaves this week and each loaf was gone in a day. One tip, if you make this, make sure that you use fresh lemons. It makes all the difference.
And I made two loaves of white bread.

I decided to start sketching my grandparents wedding portrait. They met and were married during WWII. A few week ago my grandmother celebrated her 100th birthday. Sadly, I was unable to make it to her party but I did get a chance to video chat with her.
I am going to give this another try since the transfer left lines and I was unable to erase them.

I am struggling to work on this new paper that I purchased. I am used to working on smooth paper. This one has a slight tooth to it. I am slowly getting acclimated to it.
Tea Day
I am joining the T day ladies hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My tea today was sent to me by Natural Puerh. It is a Dahongpao, a Wuyi rock (oolong) tea. This tea had a fragrant floral aroma and I thought it was pleasant tasting. I am not a huge fan of black teas as my sensitive digestive system doesn’t like them but this one wasn’t bad. I think next time I will try it again with a lower steeping temperature to see if that makes it more flavorful. I’ll let you know what I think.

Your lemon bread sounds delicious, i don’t normally like sour dough but I have so many lemons on the tree I’ve been trying to find new recipes to use them.

You have been very busy during your snow days. Your drawings are incredible. I enjoyed seeing the one of your parents in progress.
Too much snow:( Don’t mind being housebound but grocery shopping still needs to get done and we are trying to work it around the snow and my hubby’s work schedule. Your cake and bread loaves look divine!! And I agree that fresh lemons make all the difference!

Your drawn portraits are beautiful, especially the laughing man. You mention transfer lines. How do you transfer? I’m looking forward to seeing your grandparents’ drawing finished/re-done or whatever. That’ll be something to treasure.
The tea looks interesting. I’m not a fan of black tea either but I make sure I steep it for less time than indicated.

Ohhh your teas look so good and organic. I love your faces. Great detail and expression. I too have a hard time changing paper once I get use to one. Paper with tooth is more difficult for me. I like a smooth paper. However, everyone works with what they love. Have a great day today.
