Peanut Butter Bouquets : Watercolor Illustration
Ladies and Gentleman, we have a TEENAGER
Well, I am officially the parent of a teen. This past weekend we had my son’s birthday party and we had some yummy food. My son asked for a chocolate peanut butter cake and I found this yummy recipe. The peanut butter icing on this cake tastes just like the filling of a Reese’s Peanut Butter cup.
As for the few of us that are gluten/dairy free, I made these copy-cat Hostess Cupcakes that were delicious. They were fudgy and I will be making them again for sure.
Recently, the library asked me to make a few suggestions for non-fiction art books to purchase. I was excited to see that they purchased a few of my suggestions and this week I was able to check a few of them out. The one I am sharing today is The Joy of Watercolor: 40 Happy Lessons for Painting the World Around You.
These flower vases were the first two lessons in the book. As you can see my flowers need work but I found it to be enjoyable and I love that the lessons are step by step.
This next lesson was my favorite. I just love flowers wrapped in brown paper.
And here is the final piece.
My last collage of characters was inspired by the book, Imaginary Characters: Mixed-Media Painting Techniques for Figures and Faces . I purchased this book from Thriftbooks.com several months ago but finally decided to look through it. In this painting, I was just playing around with faces and colors. I really like illustrated characters but I am unsure how I feel about the overly dramatized features. I am going to have to play some more.
I am joining the Tea Day ladies, hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My tea today arrived in the mail this afternoon and I couldn’t wait to give it a try. I can only drink herbal tea before lunch so I bought this 1 pound bag to hold me over for a while. This herbal tea, Harney & Sons Mulled Plum Cider Tea, was delicious. The aroma was wonderful and it left a pleasant and very spicy aftertaste in my mouth. Obviously, if you like spicy, this tea is for you.
Happy Tea Day,
