Published in the Fall Issue of Art Journaling

Cover Art

It is always fun getting a piece of art published. This just happens to be one of my favorite art journals as it was done on a fabric background. As you can see, a page of the journal made the front cover of the magazine!

I made these pages using PaperArtsy images, paints and lots of stitching.

In the article, I wrote about the inspiration behind the journal, my well-traveled Grandparents.

So, if you need something to read and some mixed media inspiration this fall weekend, this issue would be the perfect companion with a cup of hot tea or cider.

  • Congratulations not just being published, but being on the cover of one of my favorite magazines. Your stitches down the middle were so much better than mine when I finished a journal I showed on my blog recently. I agree that getting the two sides sewn together properly can be tricky. Sometimes the stitching from one side showed on the other, but I embraced it. Of course, my journals look NOTHING like yours. This one is truly beautiful and knowing how it reminds you of your wonderful grandparents must be cathartic. Lovely, lovely work, Kate.

  • Dad and I are so proud of the wonderful mother and wife you are to your family. God has certainly given you a special gift to create beautiful works of art. When you were a little girl every Christmas you always asked for another art course. We are so proud of your accomplishments and gifts.

  • First of all, big congrats Kate, what an honour and so well deserved!! The pages are so truly stunning!! Each has so much depth and the composition is perfection!! I wish this magazine would be more readily available in the UK… :o(
