Sketchbooks Are For Inspiration : Daily Art Practice

Couch Talk

We had a beautiful weekend to take a drive through the mountains. We took our children on a drive to see all the fall colors. We drove over the top of several mountains, a few of which were gravel and had no guard rails. I am a bit squeamish as I don’t like heights of any sort, but the views were stunning.  It’s a great way to spend some time together and enjoying God’s creation.

What did you do this weekend?

PaperArtsy Design Team Post

I am over at the PaperArtsy blog, sharing a card using Seth Apter’s new stamps. Our theme is Triads on the color wheel. You can have a look HERE.

Daily Art Practice

I have spent some time watching Youtube videos by Sketchbook Skool. They have a lot of inspirational content along with exercises to boost creativity. I have been inspired to practice some of the activities in my sketchbook. Below are a few ink sketches I did while watching  Youtube.

Drawing “My Day in Comics” was another exercise in Ink and watercolor. As you can see, my colors bled because I wasn’t using a waterproof pen but I don’t mind the result.

Tea Day

I am joining the Tea Day ladies, hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My tea today is Granny Green Apple loose tea, that I purchased at A Tea Affair. It is delicious and really does have a hint of apple.

Happy Tea Day,

Kate

  • The mountains where you drove are among my very fond memories! But I see what you mean about the heights without a guardrail.

  • Beautiful view in the first photo. And your sketches are fantastic. Glad to hear that you practiced those by watching YouTube videos. Though I don’t have skills in drawing, my son watches YouTube videos and practices artwork. I will show these to him so that he will get encouraged too. Your Day in Comics is interesting too.
This tea sounds like a good flavour. I am a tea lover too.

    Have a Happy T day!

  • Isn’t the fall color so inspiring? And nice journaling. You even caught Winston Churchill perfectly Kate. It’s amazing to see how well you sketch and how far you have come. I hope you have a great T day and week ahead. hugs-Erika

  • Wow. The colors in the mountains are amazing. I am impressed. I was also impressed with a day on your life. Much more than I would be able to draw. I knew that about Churchill. I saw a show on him and how he threw a bunch of his paintings in the pond he was drawing.

Your tea looks lovely. I can see the apples in it, too. Thanks for sharing these incredible drawings and your tea with us for T this Tuesday, Kate.

  • Wow, what a fabulous adventure you had with your family to see the fall colours! The mountains look so beautiful , you live in a gorgeous place 😊. Loving your paintings, as always and apple tea sounds yummy for this time of year too – Happy T Day! Hugs Jo x

  • We drove out to Western Massachusetts to meet friends over the long weekend, the Fall foliage was just beautiful. The weather dudes said the colors would be dull and not last long this year because of the drought we’re in. Looks like they got that wrong, and Mother Nature showed them. As always your illustrations are wonderful. and I enjoyed a day in your life. Happy T Day

  • Good morning Kate, thank you so much for dripping by for a visit. things have been on the crazy side here, so haven’t hooked up with T in awhile as it would be difficult to visit everyone.
I love seeing your art work-always inspires me hugs enjoy your week and a trip to the mountains sounds wonderful I do miss them sometimes hugs Kathy

  • Hi Kate, love your sketching, youtube is full of such useful stuff now isn’t it. I saw your triadic project on the paperartsy insta, great stuff. I’m enjoying the fall colours but not the cold. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

  • Your weekend sounds marvelous. I did walk my trail on Saturday, and it was gorgeous with swirling leaves all around me. Beautiful artwork, Kate. I just wanted to tell you that I do hope you check out Susan Heck as she has written a lot of Ladies Bible study books. Her website is https://www.withthemaster.org/ She has studies on You tube and classes on Zoom..’
    Happy T Day.

  • I love mountain views but can’t say I am a fan of mountain roads without barriers! I loved your Paper Artsy post! Your portraits are briliant.
What a great way to record your day too! Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx

  • Your drawings are great again, dear Kate. I like the idea of drawing your day in comics.
Thanks also for your recent tip that Korean chili flakes are more flavorful and less spicy than the traditional ones. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get Korean chili flakes in Austria, but I’m gradually getting used to the taste. I snack on a little kimchi almost every night now. (I’ve discovered I especially love it with a few extra drops of teriyaki sauce :-D)
I wish you wonderful last days of October and Happy Halloween!
    All the best from Austria,
    Traude
