Sleep Makes All Faces Golden : Mixed Media Card

Gold

I finally feel like gold after a few nights of uninterrupted sleep. It is amazing how a break in the REM cycle can make all the difference between a grouchy mama and a sweet mama. I usually pack a lot into my week and then ponder over it when I lay my head down to sleep. I have a brain that never seems to shut off. I think this meme describes it perfectly.

That extra sleep is due mostly to the recovery of my sinus infection. It is nice to be able to breath again when in the supine position. I am still getting hives on a daily basis, but thankfully they no longer cause the swelling of my extremities. I am unsure of the cause but I think my sinus infection triggered it.

Needless to say, I am feeling fabulous now that I can resume my normal routine!

Creating the Card

For the base of the card, I added a layer of paper bag onto which I stamped and sprayed. Next, I added a sheet of old book paper, tissue paper, washi tape and thread. My main image is a PaperArtsy image by Lynne Perrella. I embossed it in gold and painted the background with Dyan Reavely paints.

Tea Day

Since today is tea day, I am sharing my Maui Mango Herbal Tea, all set to be steeped in the strainer. I usually give it about 5 minutes to infuse the full mango flavor. Isn’t it pretty?

I am playing along with all the wonderful ladies for T-Day over at Elizabeth and Bleubeard‘s.

Happy Tea Day,

Kate

  • Lynne Perrella has some of the best stamps. I loved the Asian influence to this piece and how you embossed it, too. The wow factor was the layering and Tday I saw on one of the pages.

Your tea looks beautiful, It’s been awhile since I’ve had mango. I loved the overhead shot of the strainer, too. Thanks for sharing your lovely card and tea with us for T this Tuesday. I guess the best news is, though that you are feeling better and sleeping, too!!!

  • That sounds a delicious flavour tea for the winter months.

  • Glad to hear you’re able to get some sleep – that’s the best medicine for everything else that’s going on – hope you’re fully recovered soon.

Love this card. Isn’t that stamp amazing embossed in gold – I was so pleased with how much detail I got with it – and it looks fabulous with the blue book text behind. Completely gorgeous textural layers behind – I love it!

  • I’m so glad you are feeling better. Yes, a few nights good sleep will work wonders. I am so fortunate that I switch off when I go to bed, on top of that I read before I turn the light out. Usually fiction, which will keep my mind from churning over the things of the day. It works for me.
Your card is beautiful as usual. All your artwork is so gorgeous. What do you do with it all? Do you have an Etsy shop?
Your tea looks delicious. Did you see Jo’s post about the Tea and Biscuit Shop in Arundle.? I went into the shop’s web page. Lush teas. Right up my street.
    Happy T Day,
    Lisca

  • Boy, you’ve had a rough stretch, Kate. I hope the hives clear up completely soon.
