Smoking Turkey and Mushrooms: Daily Art Practice

Couch Talk

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with family but it went way to FAST. The food was delicious and this was the first year we had a smoked turkey. Now I don’t want it any other way. It was SO moist and the smoked flavor was infused throughout the whole turkey. It was yummy!!

This year we didn’t do any Black Friday shopping. The past few years the deals have been terrible, making it not worth it to leave the house and fight the crowds. All I can think about is the reports of people getting trampled and that definitely kills the desire to go shopping.

We did however get a Christmas Tree. One of our family traditions is building a Lego town and train around our Christmas tree and every year we save money to purchase a new building. This year we purchased the  Lego Police Station. My boys have fun designing and building the track, while my hubby builds the new addition. I’ll share a picture once everything is up.

Daily Art Practice

Today, I have a variety of things to share from my sketchbook. I found this little mushroom growing in my cactus plant, I guess it needs to dry out more. It was a pleasant surprise and I decided it would be the perfect thing to sketch. I put it in different poses and sketched it with my fountain pen. I used ink that was NOT waterproof so it could bleed to become shadows.

This next little sketch is of “Grogu.” My son is a huge Star Wars fan, so I gave this a try in watercolor. I did this on Canson XL Watercolor paper, of which I am not a fan. The color lifts with each additional layer which is a problem since watercolors is all about layers. But since I have a huge pad, I am using it for practice.

Lastly, is another food painting inspired from the Tea With Bea book.

Tea Day

I am joining the Tea Day ladies, hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My Tea today is Harney Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea , a delicious and spicy tea that I would highly recommend.

Happy Tea Day,

Kate

What a shame about that water color paper.
Hubby is now unconscious so things are now less fraught. It’s a question of waiting now. We have soft music playing and it’s okay…
