Thank You Gnome: Hand Carved Stamp

Expectations To Relax

The holiday rush is over, school has resumed and I am thankful to be back in a routine.  The last half of the year didn’t go exactly as planned. I have spent little to no time crafting and blogging so I am trying to adjust my expectations. I didn’t even get around to making my daughter a Christmas dress this year which was very disappointing but thankfully she didn’t notice. We just used one of her mommy made fall dresses and dressed it up with red shoes and a red headband. Our holiday was relaxing and full of family time, food and games. I was sad to see it end. Here is a picture of the little’s on Christmas morning with their stockings.

I am hoping to be more consistent with crafting/blogging this year but we will see how things go.

Creating the Stamp

I have always had a thing for gnomes. I am not sure why but I love their stout little bodies, fury beards and stocking caps. It started with a sketch from a painting on Instagram that inspired me.

I got a few new crafting goodies for Christmas so I used them to carve the gnome.

I made the stamp specifically for some thank you cards that I sent out for Christmas gifts. I still have a lot to learn about carving but I enjoy the process of seeing it go from a drawing to a stamped image.

Tea Day

I got some new teas for Christmas and I wanted to share one of my favorites with you. It looks like granola and smells delicious! I am trying to use it sparingly but it is difficult when I want a huge cup of tea. Who would have thought that coconut, mango, turmeric and chai would make a good combination. My family certainly knows the way to my heart.

I am joining the ladies for Tea Day over at Elizabeth and Bleubeard’s.

Happy Tea Day!

Kate

  • Happy New year Kate! Like you, my blogging and art took a back seat during the holidays 😉 Beautiful photo of your children at Christmas. Love the carved gnome- gnomes have been such a hot commodity this season- stamps, dies, patterned fabrics and papers, even decor! And your teas just sounds so delicious to me. Happy T day!

The photos of your family at Christmas looked lovely, it is a magical time for the children. I smiled at your description of the granola tea, but it does sound a delicious blend. Happy T day wishes and I hope the New Year will be good for you and your family.

  • Your carving is fantastic! Your gnome came out great. It’s nice to have a relaxing Christmas with family, because they are what is most important in life. I hope you have more time for crafting and blogging in 2020. I look forward to seeing you on T-Day. Speaking of which, your tea looks and sounds delicious. Happy T-Day!

  • I’ve missed your posts, Kate. But that’s how life goes, especially during the holidays. Your “littles” aren’t so little any more. I love that you staged them in front of earlier photos.

    I love your gnome stamp!

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  • Oh those kiddies are adorable and they look so excited for it to be Christmas. And your stamp is also amazing. Nice job. Hope you get yourself back into the routine and get some art time. The holidays are great but not meant for doing art. Hope you have a wonderful 2020 Kate. Hugs-Erika

  • Mercy your daughter has grown. The children are growing up right before our eyes.

Your stamp is amazing. You are NOT a novice anymore, dear Kate. Your tea sound amazing. Other than being allergic to coconut, this sounds (and looks) fabulous. Sounds like you had a TEAriffic holiday. Thanks for sharing your gnome and your tea with us for T this Tuesday (although it is now Wednesday).

  • Looks like Santa was really good to the Littles. Those gorgeous stockings are stuffed! Your gnome stamp is amazing. I tried carving a stamp one time. Mine didn’t turn out as well as yours. Tea sounds delicious, too. Happy T Day

  • Lovely photo of your children! I love your gnome stamp – I hope to do more stamp carving this year! Hubby likes the sound of your tea! Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year with time to do the things you love! Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
