Thanks A Fish: Mixed Media Card

Exotic Fish

On our vacation to Tennessee this summer we visited the Ripley’s Aquarium. I love seeing sea life but especially the unusual kind. I was not disappointed. One of my favorite displays, other than the jelly fish, was the Sea Dragon’s. I had never seen these before and they are in the same family as the sea horse. I couldn’t get good pictures so I found these online to show you.

Leafy Sea Dragon
Weedy Sea Dragon

Aren’t they magical?

Creating the Card

I cut a piece of patterned paper for my background. I added some book paper and a clothing tag on top of the that. I used various shades of Distress Paint along with some stamping in the background. The fish is from PaperArtsy and the sentiment die is Tim Holtz. A little thread, chipboard piece and drippy paint and my card is complete.

Thanks for looking,

Kate

  • Yes, sea dragons are crazy, extraordinary, beautiful creatures – highly improbable! I adore your card – the colours are gorgeous, so full of autumn warmth and that fish is splendid – and it all rests on your trademark glorious textured layers. Fabulous!
