The Chessboard Prince: Mixed Media Art Journal Layout
My Princes In Print
I mentioned a couple of weeks ago in one of my posts that my boys love talking about money and that they were going to guest post on my hubby’s blog. Well, yesterday their post went live. A few of you mentioned a interest in reading it so if you want to read about the difference between a rich and poor man from the eyes of a 9 and 7 year old, complete with illustrated pictures, you can find it HERE.
With that being said, the man in this journal page looks the very picture of a rich prince decked out in his tailored suit, golden pocket watch and and jeweled, chess-piece crown.
Creating the Journal Page
Today, I am sharing a page from my Steampunk Art Journal. The base is a brown paper grocery bag upon which I used gesso, stenciling, paints and stamping. I wanted the texture of fibers so I used some gauze I picked up from the dollar store around Halloween time and black thread. I layerd stamps and some die cuts before adding my main image. Isn’t that cameo die amazing?
I am still thinking on a name for this steampunk themed journal but in the meantime I will keep adding on pages. I think my greatest challenge will be figuring out how I am going to assemble the journal.
What are your favorite types of bindings? I would love to see links if you have the time to add them, yours or your favorite tutorials.
Thank you, as always, for taking the time to stop, read and leave a comment. It’s like opening the mailbox and getting hand addressed letters. 😉 And who doesn’t LOVE that?!
