Time to Breath in the New Year
I have been sewing non-stop for 3 months now, so the new year gives me a chance to breath and get back to my normal routines. Between sewing dresses for my daughter and stuffies for gifts, I am ready to start playing with paint again. I thought I would share a few photos of my sewing makes over the past few months.
My daughter has taken a liking to unicorns, so I made her one using a mash-up of a mouse stuffy and a deer stuffy. It was quite a job and took me well over 10 hours to make but I think she was pleased.
I made this pretty little deer for my cousin’s daughter. I was very pleased with how she turned out and and the outfit was my favorite to make using a fat quarter and scraps.
Next up, I made this pinafore and dress combo for Thanksgiving.
The pinafore was my favorite but I was disappointed that it didn’t fit over my daughters head after all that work. I had to go in and modify the back with a ribbon closure so she could wear it.
I found all the lace at Goodwill and the fabric at Walmart for this ensemble.
My daughter’s Christmas dress was a bear to make. I found these drapes at Goodwill and loved the fabric so I bought 2 panels. While the fabric is beautiful, it frays easily and refuses to gather. And I found out that dental floss is amazing for gathering! Believe it or not, the zipper was the worst part. I put in 4 zippers but they kept ripping up the fabric. I finally got one in that covered the ruined fabric by hand sewing on an exposed zipper.
This was the first time that I worked with tulle and while it wasn’t a breeze, i would definitely do it again. My daughter loved the twirl factor that it added.
And here is my cutie showing off her new dress shoes and hair bow.
For T-day today, I am sharing my Teavana Youthberry Tea Bags that the hubby gifted me for Christmas. I used to have this tea in loose form but the sachets are every bit as yummy as I remember. I am linking with the lovely ladies over at Elizabeth and Bleubeards.
Happy Tea Day and Happy New Year,
