Together For the Holidays

It’s my favorite time of year. Celebrating the birth of Jesus and an excuse to spend time with family! But let’s face it, sometimes the Holiday craze can be too much. My daughter loves the Llama Llama series by Anna Dewdney (and so do I).  Llama Llama Holiday Drama is about a little llama that gets overwhelmed by all of the holiday craziness and is tired of waiting for Christmas to arrive. When it all becomes too much, he starts to have a melt down. In the end, his mama stops her Christmas preparations to spend time with Llama. Whenever I read this book to my daughter, it reminds me to not get so caught up in the preparations that I forget to spend time showing my little’s some love. I LOVE Christmas but unfortunately, the commercialism and extra activities tend to shift our focus off of the real meaning. Each year, I am learning to focus a little more on Christ’s Sacrifice and less on the presents, food and fun. I have not yet achieved the perfect balance but it is something I am working on.

Since I am doing a lot of holiday preparations, I am not spending a lot of time blogging or creating. Well, I am creating, but nothing that I can share. So, I put together this little list of goodies that I have on my Amazon Wish list.

Block Printing

Wall Art

Loose Tea

What do you do to keep from getting overwhelmed during the holidays? And what do you have on your Christmas list?

Happy Weekend,

  • You have a great wish list. I wish the tea bag book had a page or two inside to see a bit more, but it got a good review, at least. I also would love some of the same art supplies. You choose well. I bet Santa knows which to get you this year.

  • I love your wish list Kate. Lots of things there I would love to have too. I do agree with you about Christmas becoming way too commercial. I made a decision a few years ago that the Christmas cards I send out will no longer have any images of Santa Claus. I love the Santa concept but it seems to me he has totally kidnapped Christmas and everything now is focused on that and not on the birth of our Lord and Saviour. I also add in a verse from the Bible about the birth of our Lord just as a little reminder of why we really celebrate Christmas. It may not mean much in the overall scheme of things but I do hope it will make people think about the reason for the Season.
Wishing you and your family a Blessed Christmas and all the very best for 2019. hugs xx
