Tribe of Ladies: Mixed Media Art Journal Layout

The Tribe

As the holidays grow closer, I am looking forward to spending more time with friends and family. Once a month, our church ladies (young mothers) meet with our children and spend time together to eat and talk about parenting, life and whatever else comes up in our conversation. It is relaxing to swap stories and laughs while our children run around and play together. At this time of year, we usually talk about the holidays and what we have planned. Hearing about different traditions and celebrations is inspiring and always gives me something to think about. I have come to enjoy our ‘Tribe of Ladies” and look forward to our monthly meetings. It is such a blessing to have a group of like-minded individuals to draw encouragement from amidst the crazy periods of life.

Creating the Journal Layout

Here is one of the layouts in my hand-sewn signatures paper bag journal. I used PapeArtsy stamps and paints for this layout. The stamps are by Lynne Perrella. I stamped and colored with Fresco Finish Paints. I incorporated a few tea bags on the layout as well.

I used the Art Deco Borders stencil and the Decorative 6-Petal Flower Screen by StencilGirl in the background as well as yellow embossing powder.

I used a lot of string, some clear embossing and black and white pens to accent.

Tea Day

The week passes so quickly and I can hardly believe that T day is upon us again. This week, I am sharing my dragon fruit devotion by Teavana. I wanted something different this week so I have had quite a few cups of this. I am joining the T- ladies over at Elizabeth and Bleubeard‘s.

Happy Tea Day,

Kate

  • It’s nice to a have a tribe to connect to. A girl tribe is a good release. I think you made a super page Kate. Very nice colors and Lynne Perrella images are definitely some of my favorite. hugs-Erika

  • Such amazing artwork and thank you for sharing how you did it. Not sure I would ever be able to do anything the same but it is good to hear how others work.

Have a very happy T Day

  • Fabulous journal pages Kate. They all look colourful and detailed.
It good to belong to a group and to be able to talk and share thoughts with each other,
I go to two groups one is a Reading group the other non messy art, we never gave it a title . Both groups end up with coffee and a long natter about life, family and what is going on in the world.
    Happy T day wishes Kate.

  • Your teas always look so delicious. that is wonderful to share with your ladies group. I don’t belong to any groups never really have as we always live so rural. I am looking into an art group to join though once we move to the lake and settle in.
I always enjoy seeing your latest art- Happy T Hugs Kathy

  • Wow, that background, the things you added coördinate so beautiful with that! The tea looks good, must smell and tast wonderful!

  • Wonderful pages, Kate, and I love the story about your tribe. It made me think about who my tribe is. It’s the T-ladies. Lovely like-minded people who support and encourage each other.

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  • I found it helpful as a young mom to meet with other parents. Just for the sanity of having an adult to talk to. Even better to meet some place so I didn’t have to clean my house for company! Once the girlies were grown and calligraphy took over, I joined a calligraphy guild. I’m able to take workshops, learn new things, and I have made some wonderful friends. Your tea looks so pretty. Happy T Day

  • I love your tea bag ladies. Such a great idea to stamp on used tea bags.
It’s wonderful to be part of a like minded group, especially for young mums. But I, as an older woman, still enjoy being part of a ‘tribe’. We hold worship afternoons at our house a few times a month where we play and sing. I also go to a group of people that meet in our village that want to learn Spanish. We meet with Spanish people that are learning English and want to practice. We meet every Saturday. It’s quite fun. It’s called the Intercambio group.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,

  • Color me in AWE of this lovely spread, Kate. It is beautiful and nicely layered, too. Each of the images is colored perfectly, and stamped so well, too.

I absolutely love looking at your dragon fruit devotion tea. IF I didn’t know better, I would think that was dried pineapple, Thanks for sharing your lovely Tribe and your dragon fruit devotion tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear Kate.

  • I’d like to try that tea, just the name appeals to me. Your Tribe Journal pages are so attractive. I like the depth you achieved with the layering and the various non paper elements. I’d like to see the hand sewn paper bag book before decorating. Maybe I can find an older post that will show me.

  • I am here to wish you a very belated Happy T day! I love your journal spread – I have to fight my Lynne Perella stamp addiction! I could use them all the time! Your tea looks really pretty! Chrisx

  • Kate, how great is that to have such a group to get together with and share! I envy you. I wish that had been something like that back when grown sons were small, it might have made parenting much easier, just to know, there are others who go through similar things!

    Your Tribe pages are gorgeous!
