Vacationing Is The Royal Treatment: Mixed Media Art Journal Layout

Queenly Treatment

I can’t believe that it has been a full week since Christmas. Thinking back, it was such a wonderful vacation spent with family. I love that the littles were able to run around and make mischief with their cousins, especially the ones that they see once a year. We ate lots of yummy and healthy food as well as time spent in the company of people that I feel privileged to call family. And for the new year we stayed at home in our jammies playing Catan, cleaning out our closet, eating leftovers and watching Mary Poppins (more than once). When I stop and reflect, I am amazed at how well I have been treated by God as well as my family, over the past year. I am undeserving of such blessings but so thankful for them.

As the new year is here, I am endeavoring to be more reflective and positive about all that goes on around me, both good and bad. There is so much to learn and who knows how much time I have left? I am sure I will be here very soon, reflecting on 2019. Crazy how fast that time comes around again!

Creating The Art Journal Layout

I have another layout to share from my daughter’s art journal. I took a long break from it because I was stuck on a layout. But thankfully, I got over the slump and am working towards finishing it this year.

I daubed Fresco Finish paints with the Ornamental Floral Screen and a PaperArsty stencil by Scrapcosy in the background. I then covered the background with a gesso wash to mute the colors before spraying with Lindy’s spray and stamping with a Chinese Background stamp by Artistic Stamper.

I layered fiber and corrugated cardboard underneath cutout images from the Chinese Garden Plum Blossom stencil, which I painted with my new Fresco Finish Chalk Paints.

Thank you for stopping by,

  • First, I laughed when you said you ate healthy at Christmas, and remembered how many sweets I consumed, something I seldom indulge in, during that time. So you didn’t have any pie or fruitcake? Well, I admit, I didn’t have any fruitcake, either.

Your spread is gorgeous Kate, and I love it. You certainly have brought the right attitude into the new year. Happy, prosperous, healthy, and art-filled 2019!
