Valentine’s and Snow Days :Seth Apter Inspired Art Journal
School’s Out
We had a few snow days this week due to the snow and ice. As you can imagine, my routine went out the window but I got to spend a few hours with my children stamping valentines. Yes, it lasted a few hours. They were so excited to pick out stamps and personalize their valentine’s. I forgot to get a picture of their finished Valentine’s but as you can see my daughter chose the doily hearts and my boys went for the simple but bright colors.
Do your make your own valentine’s?
Creating the Art Journal Layouts
The background is book paper, washi tape and chipboard letters that has been covered in brown tissue paper. I stamped the paper with an Asian stamp and stenciled using black gesso and Seth Apter’s stencils, outlined with a white pen. The top page has a packaging tape transfer and the bottom has a Tim Holtz Ideaology chip.

I want to know how you got that cool transparency on the cover Kate? I recognize the TH found relative but it looks amazing fuzzy. Nice journal cover and your kids look so cute making their Valentine’s. Hugs-Erika
Amazing layers in your page – I love the boy hovering there, a haunting image amidst the text and typography. Glad to see you had some Valentine fun with the children.

A fabulous journal with the ethereal image and gorgeous colours. How lovely your children look creating their own valentines cards. I know you send them to family and friends, we tend to send them just to our sweetheart. Hope you’re having a great weekend without any more snow xxx

Kate, I’ve missed your posts, seeing your sweet fam and your beautiful artwork! I always used to have valentine making parties with my kiddos and nieces when they were little. Love that you guys made the most of the snow day this way. And your journal pages look straight out of a magazine! I just love the effect of the overhanging brown tissue. Really amazing! It’s great to get to see what you’ve been up to as I’ve missed your beautiful work. Big hugs from SC, Autumn
