Votes for Women: A Couch Adventure

Couch Talk

Voting day is finally here and I am looking forward to finding out who wins!

It certainly feels like November here in Pennsylvania. The wind is blowing and we woke up this morning to a dusting of snow on the ground. Here is a picture of our beautiful hometown.

Creativity

I am still working on my faces and this week I completed the last face in my online class.

Above is my first drawing from my new book, The Artist’s Complete Guide to Facial Expression . They say in order to get better you need to practice often. I am trying to draw a few times a week and this book has so many great pictures and drawings to work from.

I completed two more pages in my Watercolor With Me in the Forest book.

LadyBug

Clover

I finally completed the fox from the very first LifeBook Taster session.

 Sheet to Dress

I found this vintage sheet at Goodwill earlier this year and cut the dress out back in March. I finally got around to sewing it up and thankfully this pattern didn’t need altering. The bodice still fit my daughter despite her growth spurt. No matching purse this time because she already has a closet full of them. Now it is on to her Thanksgiving dress.

Tea Day

I am joining the T day ladies hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My tea today is a Pineapple Kona Pop Herbal Tea. I like to combine this tea with a little bit of green tea. It is quite tasty!

Happy Tea Day,

Kate

  • It is really pretty with those hills/mountains where you live Kate. It’s gotten wintery here too. We had some snowflakes but at least no accumulation. It is too early for that, cooler weather is ok, but not yet snow. And your daughter’s sheet dress is adorable. I used to make dresses and other things for my daughter when she was younger. Your daughter looks so cute. Hope you have a super T day. hugs-Erika

  • Wow, Kate, you live in a valley. It’s really lovely there. I’m also glad you will be voting, too.

Your faces are amazing and your watercolors are great. I really LOVE that fox. I didn’t even try that, I knew it was beyond anything I could create.

So nice to see your daughter’s new dress. I always say bed sheets give you the most bang for the buck. That turned out great.

I’ve never heard of Pineapple Kona Pop Herbal Tea, but I think it looks wonderful and sounds even better. Thanks for sharing your art, your notice of voting tomorrow, the new dress, and your tea with us for T this almost Tuesday.

  • Your little cutie looks wonderful in her new dress. Your drawings and paintings are great, too – have fun! The fox turned out very well, too, that was a great start to the LB taster sessions. Happy T Day, stay safe, hugs, Valerie

  • I still have a few vintage sheets with patterns like that from the 70’s but they are worn and faded — it’s great that you found one still so vibrant for such a vibrant girl!

    be well… mae at maefood.blogspot.com

  • Your faces are getting very good, Kate. It looks like the Facial Expression book will be a lot of fun. Seeing faces come alive under your pencil is a delight. I love your watercolor ladybug and clover. I struggle with watercolor.

The fox is precious! I’ve only done one of the Taster sessions. Too many toys, too little time.

The dress and your daughter, of course, are adorable.

Happy T-Day. Stay safe and stay well. Hugs, Eileen

  • Your home town looks so beautiful, loved the view with the autumnal leaves 😀. So important to vote too and I’m loving your drawings and the gorgeous painted fox looks amazing – live it! Of course your daughter is the star of the show, the dress you made is gorgeous with the pretty florals and colours matching the season 😁. Wishing you a very Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x

  • Impressive faces and the watercolor drawings are charming. Your girlie is adorable, and you did a beautiful job on her dress. That pattern would make a wonderful watercolor. Take care and Happy T Day

  • Your town does look so pretty with it’s backdrop! Kate, I am loving your sketches and water colours and the fox is adorable! Speaking of which – adorable doesn’t cover how cute your daughter looks in her new dress! Happy T day, Chrisx

  • Your town looks lovely there nestled in the valley with the hills in the background.
You are improving already with those faces. The last, half finished one is really good. You are going to enjoy that book of facial expressions.
The water color book looks great. It tells you what to do and which brush to use. Does it outline the drawing too? Either that or you are very good at copying. It looks look good fun.
The fox is really tops! I love its vibrant colours and its cheeky face.
Clever you making a dress out of a sheet. Your daughter looks gorgeous in it. (But then she is so pretty, she would look gorgeous in anything).
That tea looks interesting. I have never heard of it though, but I’m sure it’s delicious.
I’m glad you voted. We are all waiting nervously for the results.
    Happy T-Day,
    Stay safe,
    Lisca

  • what a lovely view of town you have! Yes, it is definitely fall- color, and weather -wise as well.
Great looking sketches. And i love your fox- well done!
Your girl is just darling in her special dress. Keep warm and happy T day!

  • Hi Kate, thank you for visiting my blog. You live in a pretty area. I enjoy seeing your sketches, and I have looked at that watercolor book several times now on amazon she has a couple different ones. Love your fox, I may need to get one of these..
You are such a gifted seamstress-my Mom was a master seamstress and sewed most all of our clothes. I never was good at figuring out measurements for clothes.
    Happy Tea Kathy

  • Your daughters dress is adorable and so is she. I love your fox coloring and your watercolor too ~ great creative projects! Enjoy your week ~

  • What a lovely view with that backdrop of hills – is the photo taken from a mother hill? Your sketches and water colour are fabulous Kate and I adore the fox. Of course you daughter is the star here in the lovely dress you made! Hugs, Chris x(my second attempt as our internet failed yesterday)
