Who Has Extra Space? : Daily Art Practice

Couch Talk

This was the view from our window this morning. The light was hitting the trees in just the right way, although it is difficult to tell from this photo.

I wasn’t sure I was going to get a post-up this week, due to the blog server being down and the hours I spent today cleaning up media files and posts in my blog. I keep getting notices that my blog isn’t going to work because I have exceeded the file limit. I pay yearly for my blog, and I am unsure how this could happen since I only post 4 times a month. This week, I got a notice saying that I couldn’t upload any more files. Of course, the hosting wants me to pay more money to upgrade my storage. I am not willing to pay more, so I removed old posts, except for the last 4 years, that probably don’t receive traffic. I am sure this problem will come up again in the future so I am going to have to research on how to free up space. Such an annoyance and a bit of a time waster. Why can’t these things be easy?

Daily Art Practice

I have a few sketchbook pages to share today. This first one is in watercolor, using the StencilGirl Cooking stencil. This stencil has such a variety of images that are fun to play around with, especially if I am not sure what to paint.

I used the StencilGirl Sweet Girl Face Stencil, for the next one. If you recall, I had some fun sketching a bunch of Mug Shots . I decided to take this stencil and turn her into a mug shot. A few months ago, I purchased a simple set of Prismacolor 3596T Premier Colored Pencils, Soft Core, 12 Count and decided to give them a try on this page. I don’t know much about color mixing and blending when it comes to colored pencil, but I enjoyed playing around with them.

Do you have any tips or favorite colored pencil tutorials that you can share? I would love all the help I can get.

Tea Day

I am joining the Tea Day ladies, hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard. My tea today is a Tiesta Tea – Slenderizer Dry Flight Sampler, that I received as a Christmas present. I am excited to try all the flavors. I did try the Chinese Gunpowder Green and I enjoyed it’s mild flavor.

Happy Tea Day,

Kate

  • I get the running out of space on iCloud. Same thing. They want me to upgrade so I delete stuff. Fabulous assortment of teas. I think I’d like to try the Pineapple Blues. Happy T Day

  • You could spend a fortune on online services, couldn’t you?? They definitely aren’t free, even if it seems so. I had to clean up my laptop as my machine was filling up. I guess it’s a good job for the new year, but such a pain. Agreed. That is a pretty view you shared. Light in the winter morning is often so pretty. I hope you had a great T day Kate. Hugs-Erika

  • What a great view from your window. Lovely art. It is always so simple, yet so lovely. I look at it and don’t see how you used a stencil. It looks like you painted it. Blogs: mine is a free blog with blogger. Your blog is much prettier than mine. Anyway, I post 4 or less times a month since 2012, I think. I hope it never tells me I can’t do it anymore. I wouldn’t know what to do. Our grandson set it up for me and he would have to help me. Eek!
    HappyT Day.

  • wow! All these paintings are amazing! I like the 3rd artwork much. These are great Teas.I like green tea and therefore, would like to try these different flavours…
    Happy belated T-day!

  • wow I missed your post somehow. I always enjoy seeing your art Kate Your work is so good. Those teas all look so good too. Happy belated T day hugs AKathy

  • Hi Kate. It surprised me when I read you pay for your blog. I know there are pay-to-use blogs but there are so many free blogs. As upsetting as google can be I have been with them since their beginning. Before that there was a blog that was HTML and no photos. Glad those days are over. LOL As for your art. I am always so envious of your water colors. You make it look effortless. Haaa. mine look terrible. I do watch this lady on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/@KirstyPartridgeArt Have a very nice day today.

  • Hi Kate, I can relate to the space issue, I have it everywhere lol. Online, computer, phone, constantly running out of space! I’m self hosted so I always make sure to edit and optimise my photos before I upload which I guess people on blogger don’t have to think about, but it’s always been a tradeoff for me to get the blog I want. Nothing is ever free though lol. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

  • Good old blogger — it has some annoying parts, but it’s free and doesn’t seem to have a limit on file space! I’ve done thousands of. posts and lots of. photos without a peep from them. And I feel that it is really a record of my past, though I also keep a copy each month on my own storage medium.

    Good luck straightening things out.

  • We don’t have a lovely clear view of trees as you do but I know what you mean about the light on trees. I love how you used stencils to aid your drawing., As for lessons (if you want them ) Derwent Academy have done some great ones with their products . I am continually trying to gain more storage space for my photos, Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx

  • Like Nicole, I was with Blogger before Google bought it. A few years ago, before the “new and not so improved ” Google/blogger, they set limits on how much you could download. That seems to have gone away, though. Free is sometimes not as much fun, but free is still free!

I love how you used those stencils. I have colored pencils, but I never use them. I use watercolor pencils and I have several brands, including a set if 48 by Stampin’ up, which were a gift.

Love those teas. I want to try the Chinese jasmine. I am looking for jasmine with flowers and this looks like it might have it. Thanks for shairng your art and teas with us for T this week, dear Kate. Sorry I’m late visiting.
