Things are starting to return to normal now that the holidays are over and everyone is healthy again. I am working on building up my immune system by improving my gut health after several rounds of antibiotics for a dry socket. After a long time of negligence, I am making Kombucha and my favorite Trader Joes’s style Sauerkraut again to replace the good bacteria in my gut. I even tried Kimchi for the first time this week. It was SO spicy it made my nose run but I couldn’t stop eating it. Kimchi is a delicious Korean version of fermented vegetables that usually contains either cabbage or radish. After my current batch of sauerkraut is completed, I am going to give kimchi a try.

Watercolor Shopfront
Salumeria is an Italian restaurant located in Moscow. From what I can see on their website, the menu consists of all sorts of Italian staples, including pizza and pasta. I even spied my favorite dessert, cannoli. My favorite part about the exterior of this building is of course, the flowers and greenery, framing the building beautifully. Reference photo HERE.
M. J. Kamphuizen Koffie & theehandel is the last shopfront. At first, I thought it was an antique shop because of all the wares in the windows but after reading through the reference photo a bit more, it says that this is a coffee shop in South Holland. Such a beautiful old building with a lot of character. This was my first time using this technique for painting bricks that I learned in an online Etchr class. Tea Day
I am joining the Tea Day ladies, hosted by Elizabeth. My tea today is one that I grabbed at the grocery store, Celestial Seasonings Herbal Tea, Bengal Spice, Caffeine Free . I bought it for my daughter when she was sick because she LOVES tigers. It ended up being more to my liking so I am drinking it. I love the spice in this tea! It even tastes delicious infused in almond or coconut milk.

I quite like kimchi but in small amounts as yes, it is quite spicy unless you make your own.. Always a pleasure to see your continued series of watercolor shop fronts!

Kimchi is yummy. I haven’t had it in a long long time, but yours looks good. I’ve never made it though. It is so important to get gut health on the right track for so many reasons. I like your watercolor paintings and the roses at the front of the Italian restaurant look beautiful. However, that is not a coffee shop – it’s a shop that sells coffee and tea alright, but it isn’t a coffee shop. In the Netherlands coffee shops are etsablishments that sell cannabis…

Okay, I just realized that South Holland is a place NOT in the Netherlands – that made me laugh! I thought it was meant in the South of the provinve Holland in the Netherlands – oh boy!!!
Hi Kate, good that everyone is getting healthy again. I can’t kimchi but my husband loves it. are you familiar with the Japanese press? you can press cabbage and other veggies, let it ferment a bit to help with digestion. I need to get mine out and make that again.

I don’t care for sauerkraut and have never had kimchi. I wonder if kimchi would be in my grocer’s frozen food section…

I have kim chi and sauerkraut in my fridge at the moment since I am also trying to help build up my immunity again. I do prefer the taste of kim chi to sauerkraut though but I will eat the sauerkraut as I know how good it is for me. I will pop over and check out your post on Paperartsy after this. Happy T Day! Good for you eating the fermented foods. It is the best way to get a good gut. I love the art today too. There is so much detail. Every time I think I am done looking I find something else. Have a great day today.
Oh I’m so exited you have painted a shop in Holland. I know it. It is in Gouda, not far from Rotterdam, where I grew up. You have painted it beautifully! There is a lot of history, and it is all in Dutch. I promise I will write about it next week and show photos. Interesting to read about Kimchi. I have never tasted it.

I am on antibiotics at the moment and have ordered some Kefir for when I come off them. Kimchi sounds interesting. . I love your sketches of the shops. I still haven’t managed to visit Paper Artsy blog yet. Having a day at home tomorrow so may get round to it then. Happy T Day, Chrisx

A friend makes kombucha and I just couldn’t get into it. I just stick with yogurt or taking a good probiotic. Better living through chemistry 😉 Your watercolors are amazing. Your watercolours painting are simply wonderful! I love them, and the colours are beautiful. That tea has to be very good, I really like tea, my favorite is green tea, well, also chai tea.
