Will Winter Never End: Mixed Media Art Journal
Flowers
…something we have not seen a lot of as of late. We are due for another snow storm and I am longing for colorful blooms to litter my lawn again. Not only is the weather cold and landscape brown but I am nursing a miserable head cold which has made my nose raw and my sleep restless.
Last night, my littles saw that I was under the weather and said that they wanted to surprise me. I implored them not to make me breakfast. Last time they ‘surprised’ me with breakfast they heated my greek yogurt in the microwave. Heated dairy always makes me sick. So, I woke this morning instead to these lovely cards. And my youngest son is always so sharing. He included two dollars in my card which I had to sneak back into his bank when he went to school. What sweet boys I have.
Creating The Layout
The Process
I am almost finished my junk journal. I am not so thrilled with this layout but sometimes that’s how it goes. The background was embossed in green. I used a Unity stamp in the background along with PaperArtsy Infusions. Everything on this page was taken from an old art journal that I was going to throw out. I am always glad when I have the opportunity to reuse items.

Happy T Day Kathy
I’m sorry you’ve been under the weather. Such sweet littles! 🙂 Thoughtful, aren’t they 🙂 I like the texture that shows in your pieces. Makes me want to reach out and touch the screen, it shows up so nicely. Happy T Tuesday
I love your creation! Lovely way to recycle items from old journal and making them new! I want to hug your sweet boys! You give them extra hugs. And I hope you feel better and have a happy TDay!
Sorry to hear that you are so unwell, I hope you feel much better soon! The cards your little ones made are adorable, they are so thoughtful and they must have made you so happy – perfect 😁. Your junk journal is amazing, I love how you used the embossing powder in the background and all the detail that you created is beautiful! Take care and Happy T Day! J 😊
I realize I’m late visiting. I was up all night and slept in today. I can relate to your head cold. But I don’t have sweet children to ease the cold. I know that cheered you immensely.
It looks like you are getting ready for Chinese New Year. You may not have flowers outside, but they are blooming beautifully on your page. I am in awe of everything about it.
Thanks for sharing your art, your snow, and your tea, but not your illness with us for T this Tuesday.
It is a gorgeous textures and layered journal spread and it is good to see flowers at any time of the year.
The cards from your children looked adorable, so thoughtful, I hope you will be feeling much better soon.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne
Sorry to hear you’re not well, but those little sweethearts of yours are very thoughtful. I think your page looks amazing with all those textures and I love the fact you used some recycled bits from an old journal. Glad I am not the only one who does that sort of thing… We had snow again today too :o(
After the storm rolls through your way, it’s supposed to arrive here. Today, we had a surprise snow squall. I am just so done with Winter and wander around asking anyone, Is it July, yet? Your journal page is amazing. Cool to be able to reuse your own art in a new way.
You little boys are so sweet and thoughtful. Love the cards they made for you. Hope you feel better.
Sorry you are feeling poorly.
This is such a beautiful spread, rich in texture and colour.
Wishes
Lynne

Just got over a bad cold too so I do get it – ugh! What darling boys to make you handmade cards. Love your Asian inspired journal spread!! The branches on the left seem to symbolize chopsticks (at least to me:) Feel better, and happy T day!
This is a gorgeous journal spread today Kate. You created some fabulous texture-you truly did make a mixed media piece. Sorry to hear you are under the weather and hope you feel better soon. It’s been a bad winter for all these viruses. Hope it was a great T day and your kids didn’t make your day more work so you can relax a bit. Hugs-Erika
What a terrific spread Kate. Get well very soon! ♥♥♥
fantastic textured Journal spread! and heartwarming Cards from your Boys♥
take care!
Your journal page is great. There are flowers to cheer you up and encourage you that spring is on the way, as is the green back ground (good idea btw to use embossing powder). And so satisfying that you recycled an old journal.
I do hope you are feeling better. Here in Europe that virus is doing the round too and keeps coming back! It is a nasty one.
Your kids are so sweet! That would have made my heart swell and perk me up for the rest of the day. And the gift of the two dollars nearly made me cry.
Happy belated T-day,
Lisca
Wow, two gorgeous pages, wonderful colours and texture. And what sweet children you have!
Oh Kate, so sorry to hear you are under the weather..and that the weather is still miserable, as it is here for us! Yikes I just went out to my barn for a few things and nearly froze in place it is so cold out there today!

You really are blessed Kate and I hope you’re on the mend as quickly as possible. Sometimes we just need to crash and let our bodies have some down time. I’m fascinated by these pages and love your use of rich greens and the Asian LP stamps. I don’t have any, but you make me covet! 🙂 Hugs, Autumn
Sorry to be so late, Kate, … busy week. Sorry you’ve been under the weather. What sweet cards your boys made to cheer you. Feel better quick.
Gee, I thought your layout was quite striking until you said you’re not thrilled with it. Now I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong. Nothing I can see 😉
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
Oh dear! I’m over a week late to the party; hopefully you are more in the party mode by this time and over your ickies. You are blessed by the littles; how sweet to get the cards from them. Your journal pages speak to me; I love the green and rust combo, and the texture is fabulous. I wish I could create like this. I love that you re-use your goodies. You can be a member of my Waste Not Want Not club! Hugs!
